NO WAY.
here's why from muslim.
1.Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) received his first revelation in his fortieth year. And it is true that both the books of the Bible and the Qur’an cover much common ground. It is also true that in the course of 23 years, verses were revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him) on different occasions and that he asked his followers to put these verses in particular places in different chapters.
2.There was no Arabic translation of the Bible available during the Prophet’s time.
3.It is well-known that the Prophet did not know how to read or write: he was illiterate. So there was no question of his plagiarizing the Bible, even if an Arabic copy did in fact exist in his time. What then of the charge that he was taught by some Christians?

Allah the Almighty answered the criticism fourteen centuries ago in these verses, which say what means:
*{Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. Nor does he say [aught] of [his own] desire. It is no less than inspiration sent down to him. He was taught by One Mighty in power.}* (An-Najm 53:2–5)
4.at that time, Christianity was almost totally out of the scene of Makkah. In the Arab Peninsula, Christian presence was confined to three locations: among the tribes of Al-Heerah in the northeast near Iraq, the Roman-occupied kingdom of Bani Ghassan in the northwest, and the Abyssinian reign of Yemen, far away from Makkah. Jewish presence was mainly in enclave settlements in and around Madinah.
just wanted to clarify that part.
peace.

From what I understand, Muhammad didn't copy the Bible, he corrected the Bible. The Quran is supposed to be the same message that was originally in the Hebrew and Christian texts before they were corrupted.
Muhammad's main purpose as a prophet was just to put things back on the right track after the teachings of the earlier prophets had gotten all screwed up by humanity. Muhammad didn't really say all that much that was new or different, he just said it all again as it was supposed to be said.
At least, that is my understanding of the Islamic beliefs on this subject.
I'm not a Muslim, but after having read both the Bible and the Quran, I have to admit that some really screwy things in the Bible were left out of the Quran. Islam does actually appear to be a somewhat "cleaned-up" version of the older scriptures.
I was pretty shocked when I realized this. When I was younger, I thought Islam was just some completely savage ridiculous religion that was only believed in by desert people who had all suffered way too much sun-stroke.
Once I actually read through the Quran, and managed to get past the odd wording and other cultural confusions, I found that Islam was much different than most people think it is.
Actually, I had to go back to it a couple of times and do some comparisons between it and the Bible before I really started to figure out what it was all really about.
I still think that Muhammad probably wasn't completely perfect. There were some parts that seemed a bit iffy here and there. But it did make a whole lot more sense than the Christian beliefs.
In response to "Muhammad_was_a_ped...":
You made a claim that the pre-Islamic pagans
"fasted for the month which begins and ends with the crescent moon"
This would mean that they would have never eaten at all. With the lunar calendar they used, the crescent moon signaled the start of _every_ month. You might want to re-think that particular assertion.

Well the debate is still on as to whether Muhammad could read or write. Since he was a businessman before becoming a "prophet", chances are very good that he could read and write some, maybe not very well, but nonetheless some. But let's say you are correct and he was totally illiterate, does that mean he never HEARD any of the Bible?
Also, please don't continue spreading myths about how perfect and unchanged the quran is. Historians know that the 1st Khalifah (caliph) of islam, Abu Bakr started putting the quran together after Muhammad died. The 2nd caliph noticed variations of readings found in the copies and the 3rd caliph Uthman established what was to be the authorized text and destroyed the ones that differed. There were Muslims at that time who disagreed and refused Uthman's version.
The "perfect" quran was different from the start!
No one knows what spirit talked to Muhammad. Muhammad didn't know! He heard of Angel Gabriel from his wife's cousin! Oh wait, that means someone did know about the Holy Bible!
You need to rethink your argument. It's full of holes.
God Bless.

No.
The one who copied the Bible was the founder of the Mormon church, right down to words in italics that he did not understand were added by the translators of the King James Bible.
No Muhammad did NOT "copy" the bible. He contradicts it constantly. If Muslims think they know about Jesus from Muhammad's would-be holy book, they are wrong!!!
You hit on the reason. There was no Arabic translation of the Bible available during the Prophet’s time. It is well-known that the Prophet did not know how to read or write any way.
Muhammad got the bible all mixed up, and missrepresented what it said...THIS PROVES HE DID NOT GET HIS INFORMATION FROM GOD!!!
The claim he "corrected" the scriptures is a joke. No one can believe the Bible was corrupted, and needed to be corrected by a violent sinner with a wife of statutory-rape age.
To a lesser extent, that is also the main fault of Russell's so-called Jehovah Witness bible, which subtly changed Bible words to support his own odd beliefs. These revisionists have no proof but their own self-approval!
Jesus is the only one you can trust. Jesus overcame death, the grave, and all the earth.
He's the only one with an empty tomb, left behind to prove His Deity.
Turn to the Word of the living God.

"Did Prophet Muhammad Copy the Bible?" Nope. He attempted to recite what he THOUGHT he heard the Bible mentioned, however he mis-remembered a lot of what he claimed the Bible mentioned, such that Mohammad misrepresented or lied approximately the Bible. Then, to hide his possess bottom, he claimed (with none proof) that the Bible was once corrupted and what he (Mohammad) mentioned was once the truly tale. For what rationale will have to we purchase this declare? Why, most effective considering Mohammad mentioned so. There is NO different rationale provided to us. Muslims fell for it, the leisure folks realize bigger.

There is no reason why the Al-Quran should be copied from the Bible. I agree with your points. Both contains verses revealed from the same God, but the Bible has been badly tampered with, while historians agrees the Quran has remained totally unchanged over the course of time.
The fact that the Bible contains so much contradictions is a responsibility of the Christians, but they are themselves delusioned with the belief of the holy trinity, something which is nowhere mentioned in the whole Bible and is a creation of their forefathers.

1) Not pertinent to the question, except to faithful Muslims. The truth of revelations made to Muhammad must be accepted on faith.
2) Also not pertinent, since most people of that time could not read, but this did not stop thousands upon thousands from hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew *of* Jesus, for example, before I learned how to read *anything*, and certainly years before I was able to read anything as difficult as the bible.
3) If he *was* taught by some Christians, then obviously he *did* know of the bible. It would be no more difficult for him to dictate what he had heard than it would for you or I.
I think it also important to point out that archaeologist *have* discovered varying versions of the Qur'an. The version most widely accepted today is not the only version, as older versions attest. Thus, it is scientifically demonstrable that the Qur'an has gone through changes since its first inception. Here is an excellent (and, it appears to me, respectful) article on the subject: http://www.submission.org/quran/protect.html .
Conclusion: there is no way to determine *conclusively* if parts of the Qur'an were based on teachings from the bible. Muhammad could (theoretically) have based some of his teachings on those of Christians, but there is *no* conclusive evidence of this. There is, likewise, no *conclusive* evidence that he did *not* base any of his teachings on the teachings of the bible. Anyone who asserts that he did, or did not, is basing their claim on faith, not on evidential proof.

At first i want to say to Dark Angel : y should men change in the Bible ?/??? If Christians changed in it , would'nt the Jews have the original texts? And would the Jews leave the Christians to freely change in it??? And how can , wheather the Christians or the Jews , change in the holy books of the whole world?? If they succeeded in changing 1000 book, there would b thousands of other books all over the world without changings. So, it is a failure job.
Well, Mohammed's father was a Christian Monk who was dismissed from a convent for a mistake he did or so. So, Muhammed knew very well about the Old estament.
Good Luck!

If I say yes: then the Koran is a very bad copy indeed, for it doesn't represent a "continuation" or a "newer" version of the Bible. It disconnects itself from the Judeo-Christian culture/principles/ way of thinking. For Christians and Jews and probably for most other religions the Islam prophet lead a very sinful life. No, I'm not going to give examples; you know what I'm referring to. I know Muslims disagree about his sinful life, but that's their right. This disagreement is exactly what I mean when talking about disconnection.
As you can see, I just answered at the same time why it CAN'T be a copy either.
Now for some remarks:
Being Mohamed a merchant he should have known reading, writing and arithmetic, shouldn't he?
No contradictions or errors? Just to mention some:
The Koran states in Surat al-Kahf 18.83-100 that General Alexander the Great of Macedonia was a prophet! Although a great warrior and conqueror, he was a heathen, liked men, was addicted to alcohol, etc. For a book that claims to be "untouched" by people, it's very strange to proclaim someone like Alexander a prophet. Again a big disconnection: prophets are not supposed to live such sinful lives, but should be the best examples possible!
Surat al-Kahf 18:86 states that the setting-place of the sun is in a muddy spring!
When internal contradictions occur, Muslims resolve them by stating that certain passsages are annulled by verses chronologically later than themselves. Read Surat al-Baqarah 2:106: "Such of our revelations as we abrogate or cause to be forgotten, we bring one better or the like therof. Knowest thou not that Allah is able to do all things?" Talking about being "untouched"!
Hey, I never read that in the Bible, and if the Bible was "corrupted" by men, why did "we" not intervene then? The answer: because there are no contradictions in the Bible, but differences in interpretation!
About the "changed" Bible.
Allah commanded Mohamed to seek help from the people of the Bible to eliminate doubts: "And if thou (Mohamed) art in doubt concerning that which we reveal unto thee, then question those who read the Scripture (that was) before thee. Verily the Truth from thy Lord hath come unto thee. So be not thou of the waverers... "(Surat Yonus 10:94)
Oops! Reading the Bible, a "corrupted" book, in order to eliminate doubts?!
Further.
"And argue not with the People of the Scipture unless it be in ( a way) that is better save with such of them as do wrong; and say: We believe in that which hath been revealed unto us and revealed unto you; our God and your God is One, and unto him we surrender." (Surat al-Ankabut 29:46)
Enough.
So what we have is a book (Koran) which is holy, only for Muslims. The only connection or similarity
is that it's uncompromisingly monotheistic. Only in this respect I do agree with the Muslim faith.

No...
They apparently seem to be similar, because the they are from the same one source...Allah.
These revelations are from Allah and no human can compose these or copy these.
And Quran is the complete book from Allah...for all times and all men. It will not change and it will be preserved till eternity...So it is said and so it will be.
This is for all those who use abusive and bashful words....
May I ask them about that the Bible you quote..how many times was it modified, and what is the role of Constantine in it?
