John Edgar Hoover was the son of Dickerson Naylor Hoover, of German descent, and Annie Marie Schertlin, whose ancestors were Swiss. As a child, Hoover attended the Lutheran Church until he was in his teens whereupon he went against his mother's wishes and joined the Presbyterian Church.

Well he was raised as a Presbyterian, and his personnel life should not be a reflecting on all us Presbyterian, most of us are great people like any faith or race of people you have your black sheep and bad apples.
