On Yahoo Answers, just as it is in everyday life, most of those who ask psychics for readings only want their needs pandered to and are willing to pay for the pandering. There are many who will pander for cash or points. Some true psychics and many not. In watching and participating I've seen this as a constant pattern. Therefore, I would say it is those who seek through remuneration and build the false house of cards in which they wish to abide, buttress the view of many none believers that divination of any kind is false.

I have done readings for many years, some of those professionally. I have often GIVEN readings away even during the period of time when I was making my living as a reader. I also did not have a fixed fee for my readings. Instead I let the person GETTING the reading determine how valuable THEY thought it was.

I have repeatedly refused to give readings to those who come to this site, which I feel is not the correct place for that sort of request.

I consider my abilities as a reader to be a Divine Gift, so although I am allowed to make a fair living, I am not allowed to be a "scam" reader, or to lie in my readings. I am not even allowed to omit a portion of what is in the reading according to my religious beliefs.

I cast the runes, but only for people that have a serious need and respect the beliefs of the Forn Sidr. The casting of the runes are part of my religious beliefs, so I would not cast the runes for someone who did not respect those beliefs. I do not ask for money because there might be a tendency to tell people what they want to hear to satisfy them. If there is no money involved, I can be more precise in reading the runes as they fall.

There are those that say they're psychic when in truth they haven't a clue. Not all of us charge.... at least not every time. Like with everything else there will always be someone to make us look bad.

Well, the fact that none of the "psychics" are able to demonstrate any abilities also buttresses our view that divination of any kind is false.

If there were any real psychics, they'd demonstrate their abilities, rather than just claim to have them.

i agree. it is also in my opinion that on one who is psychic should ever use their powers for evil. it's better to be descrite. giving just anyone a reading should be tabu in the minds of those paranormal freaks. they also shouldn't freak out normal people just for the fun of it. that's so not cool.

Quite possibly. Mostly they tell people what they want to hear and that isn't difficult. You won't hear a psychic say "Your husband is in Hell and he hates you".

There are two kinds of psychic. Some are charlatans; some are just deluded.

Psychics can sometimes tell the truth. Albeit most don't. Anything involving the supernatural realms outside of the Holy Trinity is intrinsically evil. The powers of Satan/demons are powerful. It's like playing with fire, one day you'll get burnt.
