Well, religion is similar to an infectious disease, in that there are those more suseptable to it, and those that die because of it. That being said, I think the root "disease," in this case is lack of knowledge which is much more dangerous, especially when those who suffer from it do so happily!

No, just the people that make religion feel like infectious. Not the principles

It could definitely be a disease.
Does it affect your life in a negative way? Do you lose friends because of it? Alienate family members? Miss work? Feel bad or guilty regularly? etc. If you answer yes, you may have a problem.

the extra youthful you brainwash a baby, the longer she or he would be in a position to hang to their cognative dissonance in defence of that indoctrination. faith is a affliction, and we ought to vaccinate ourselves and our young little ones with good judgment, consumer-friendly experience, and rational thinking. Ben Franklin mentioned that the only thank you to stay by ability of religion is to close the attention of reason. God is a fantasy. El Chistoso

in some cases yes.
it is a disease if the religion hinders the infected person in his normal life. that is for instance if the person is obsessed with religion and spend so much time on it that he forgets to eat / sleep ( as an example )

It causes simple-minded human beings to commit murder, speak in "tongues", and contribute money to those who infect them. It has a very high rate of infection if spread to those under 17 or so.
LoL religion is more harmful than most diseases I know of.

Its a memetic disease, that acts on the brain and destroys it.
There is a cure: information and education. Unfortunately, part of the disease's own defence mechanism is to resist this antidote.
It's a sad, terrible epidemic.

No, infectious diseases do not bring comfort and healing, nor do they provide you with a moral compass to guide you through life.

Religion is certainly an infectious meme, or idea. It spreads by fooling people into thinking they have a shot at living forever if they will only swallow the most crackpot beliefs hook, line and sinker. That and commit the most unimaginable atrocities if 'god' commands it.
Yes, it is both infectious and deadly, and should be neither respected nor tolerated but laughed out of existence once and for all. Ready?
