on the FBI Employment site, they say, "To qualify under the Diversified Program, you must have a BS or BA degree in any discipline, plus three years of full-time work experience, or an advanced degree accompanied by two years of full-time work experience." what does this mean? i don't understand it exactly, i think it may mean that you don't have to specialize in something that deals with law or law enforcement, but i'm not sure. what does it mean, and what kind of oppurtunities would someone who qualifies under "diversified" be?

It has nothing to do with being a minority or your gender or anything like that. You need to read the page before the one that describes the Diversified Entry Program. There are five entry programs. The first four require specific education and experience. They are Accounting, Computer Science/Information Technology, Language, and Law. The Diversified program is to get qualified applicants that don't fall under the other four programs.

The Diversified Program probably has lower programs than other traditional standard program ? I would compare .

In this description : to apply for job you should
have

Bachelor Degree AND 3 years work experience

OR

if you have an

Advanced Degree AND 2 years work experience

they will meet the requirements

They do not mean that you need law enforcement experience. They can teach anyone that. If your work expereince dealt with law enforcement or some type of military , postal, forest preservery or other government type of experience ... I would think this would be an excellent advantage. You could have been a retail clerk for 2 years though and get this job if you are the right person or know the right person provided you hold at least the Bachelor Degree.

Diversity - Check their site to see how they define it. Usually this means are you black, an american indian, hispanic, a woman, jewish , disabled , a veteran. I would think you must be a citizen of US for a federal job but probabbly could be naturlized ?

Diversified Program - Usually is somehting they are required by law to advertise . Of course, it is best to get a work force with diversity ... but you do not sacrifice for this trait if the worker is not qualified. If the applicants are equally qualified, the diversity candidate will lead / have the strong edge and probably be selected.

Work on getting the highest level experience / grades / degrees and work experience. This is what really counts on the job ... not the color of your skin, your sex. etc. Be the best / meet the highest requirements that you can possibly meet and keep learning / never get stagnant. Do not count on getting the job / or giving the job JUST because they are the diversity candidate. The goal is not to fill qoutas it is to get the highest qualified / skilled workforce. FOR SURE , diversity will make a better team.

Diversified Definition

From what I understood it to be was that a diversified person is someone who at one point in time or presently needs/has/had financial assistance, is of a certain race or origin, of a certain sex, etc...

At least that is what I have gathered from when I had a look at the application. Usually they will hire "diversified" peoples first because they are in greater need of the jobs and opportunities.

Hope this helps some...

It looks like they are talking about diversified experience. Experience in more than one field without necessarily being a master in any.

They do not appear to be talking about diversity in that description as diversity applies to recruiting minorities or people with disabilities.
