There isn't really anything to do, but wait for the pain to go away which will take about a week. I would suggest foods that you can eat mostly whole without chewing, i.e. peaches, yogurt, arby's roast beef without the bun (I know it sounds weird, but it is a nice change from soup and yogurt), lipton chicken noodle soup, etc.

I will warn you however... the first two wire changes will probably hurt this much as well, however it will be for a much shorter time.

They suck! I just got mine taken off but I remember like it was yesterday the first 4-5 days. My orthodontist told me to drink a lot of ice water. And it actually worked! Keep taking the Advil and try alternating it with Tylenol. It does get better! Think of the end result!

All I have to say is be patient. It will take about a week before you get used to braces and the pain goes away. You don't need to take medicine, instead what I would suggest is putting dental wax on the area that hurts. After about a week, it won't hurt when you eat. For now, try drinking soup, mashed potatoes, and salads.

I know how u feel. I got braces a month ago. The pain woke me up in my sleep.
I found that sucking on things helped. like a mint or something.
Also, keep taking advil, and also you can like stub ur toe or something to distract u from the pain of ur braces.
hah.

You have to wait it out, things will get easier. Eventually with time, when you take Advil it will work to stop the pain... other than that the next month will not be your best! And they'll hurt even if you eat soft food! :]

Try some tylenol. I remember what a pain braces were! Have some mashed potatoes, ice cream, soup, etc. You might want to call your orthodontist for suggestions on the pain! Just think, soon you will have beautiful teeth! : ) I hope you feel better soon!!

Its hard to believe two liquid gel advil 500mg doesn't help. It would take 15 to 20 min. to kick in. Talk to dentist on phone cause its ridiculous and should not be that bad.
