Hope, or truth?

Is it more important to understand how the world really works even if it means that we are alone and must fend for ourselves? Or is it more important to have faith that there might be someone out there looking after us even if this is not so?

If the human race were to universally accept hope over truth, human advancement would effectively end. When you're content hiding beneath the security blanket of religion, you no longer seek the truth and gain knowledge and wisdom in doing so.

I think Dante's "Give up hope all ye who enter here" is appropos for life generally. It is ego hope that keeps us attached to the very ideas that destroy us, keep us in hell. A belief in 'deity' is ultimately self-destructive, because it places a barrier to true psychological 'unity.'

But truth? No, that is entirely an interior journey to authentic being. Faith/belief? Mandatory that we disgorge it from mind. But, KNOWLEDGE, about how reality works? Now, THAT'S the ticket.

Truth. Its only with truth that we can actually do things to help the world. Hope gets us nowhere.

both are true.. and both are not in this life you meet 50% people that share youre views and 50% that dont share them.(well just imagine if that is true?wich is a close prognoses) so meaning its up to you , it doesnt mather what other people think or do or share youre views, I know that is verry hard to swallow, but that is the truth,.. if you want to ''be'' somebody you have to take risks .. with the people that you meet , with the people that surround you , youre family and evan with youreselve, ''that so called is evolution!''(revolution) progress.. you see? he, good questions, keep it on a roll !

Hope, biblically defined, is not the same as the hope in which, "I hope I win the lottery", as if to say, it might happen, or it might not.

Hope in the Bible is a guaranteed expected result. I believe that Jesus, who is God, died for my sins on the cross and rose again, so I have guarantee 100% that I will be in heaven when I die.

I think it is possible to place hope in truth. I believe that there is a god watching me and I believe it to be true and I place all of my hope and faith in it.

Truth. Hope can be misleading and false. The truth sometimes hurts, but at least you always know that you don't have to doubt it.
