Can you show me 1 verse telling you to pray to Mary, or to confess your sins to a priest, or confirming the existance of a place called Purgatory? I seem to have noticed some problems with the Catholic beliefs too.

Praying to Mary: Exodus 20:12 (and elsewhere) - "Honor your father and mother." Since Jesus is sinless, we know that He honors His mother, Mary, perfectly. Also see, Wedding at Cana in John 2. Mary tells Jesus there is a need. Jesus says it isn't His time. Mary tells the servants to follow Jesus. Jesus bends to Mary's request and starts His public ministry. Therefore, we know that Jesus listens to Mary's requests. Also see John 5:24 (and elsewhere), "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life." Since we know that Mary heard the Word of God and believed fully that Jesus is the Messiah (see Luke 1 if you doubt this), she has eternal life, which means she is NOT dead but living. If she is living with Jesus in heaven, she can still do what she did on earth in John 2, which is to intercede for us and tell us to follow Jesus.

Since Fr. K did such a fine job above, I'll just add this one for confessing sins to a priest: James 5:16 "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed." --- It's the people who do NOT confess their sins to somebody who are violating Scripture, not Catholics.

Purgatory: 2 Cor 5:10 "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body." See also: Ps 66:12, Mt 12:32, Phil 2:10-11, Ecc 12:14, Lk 16:19-31, 1 Thess 3:13, Is 4:4 (cf. Eph 4:8-10; 4:7 6:5-7 1 Pet 3:19-20) 2 Tim 1:16-18, Mic 7:8-9, 1 Cor 3:11-15, Heb 12:14, Mal 3:1-4 15:29 12:29, Rev 5:3,13, Mt 5:25-6, Lk 12:58-9, 7:1, 21:27. In other words, we are frequently told in Scripture that "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," and that "nothing unclean can enter heaven" and that Jesus is the one who washes us clean. If we're not clean while still in the flesh and we MUST be clean before we can enter heaven, there is a cleansing process between the flesh and heaven. This process is PURGATORY.

So there you have it, more than one Scripture verse, but plenty of references to support the Catholic teaching on these issues.

You are correct.
The worship , or praying to Mary is absolutely NOT supported in the Bible.
It is a perversion of what is right by Christendom today.

The Bible is clear, that we should pray to almighty God, who's name is Jehovah , Not Jesus , Not Mary , not the saints , But only to Jehovah.

While true Christians do appreciate what Mary did for Jesus, raising him right etc , we follow what Jesus said and what he did , and pray to his heavenly father Jehovah.

YES! Well, you know they'll probably show you something from their special Catholic Bible...you know, the one that's different from the original scriptures, because Catholics are special and they get a special Bible.

First.....you are denying the premise, and it is impossible to reach a valid conclusion in doing so. Not all of the Faith is contained within Holy Scripture. We know this for several reasons....one of which is because Holy Scripture tells us so:

MARY QUEEN MOTHER -- AS ADVOCATE
(Jesus can not refuse His mother.)

"…Then Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king stood up to meet her and paid her homage. Then he sat down upon his throne, and a throne was provided for the king's mother, who sat at his right. "There is one small favor I would ask of you," she said. "Do not refuse me." "Ask it, my mother," the king said to her, "for I will not refuse you…". (Cf. I Kings 2:19-20)

The Blessed Mother of God is the fairest daughter of the Father, the Mother of the Son and the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. She has a relationship with the Holy Trinity unlike any other creature. Her role as Advocate for the children of God is unlike any other creature’s as well.
Dr. Miravalle described it this way: "In the great Davidic kingdoms of the Old Testament, the mother of the king traditionally held the office of the "Queen Mother" (or "Gebirah" in Hebrew, literally meaning "the Great Lady", (Cf. 1Ki 2:11,19). The principal role of the Queen Mother was to serve as advocate or intercessor on behalf of the people of Israel to her son the King.

"In the New Testament, with the announcement of the new and eternal King and Kingdom of God (Cf. Lk. 1:32-33), so too humanity receives a new Queen Mother, as principal advocate for the people of God in presenting their needs to Jesus Christ, the King of kings. .Her advocacy is clearly manifest at Cana, interceding on behalf of those without physical wine, but ultimately for the spiritual and Eucharistic wine of her Son (Jn.2:1-10). At Calvary, the Crucified King presents his Mother and Queen to the world as gift to all in his Kingdom (Jn. 19:27). And in Revelation, the new Queen Mother in the universal and everlasting Kingdom of Christ is crowned with twelve stars (Rev. 12:1), as she, in battle array, continues her life and death advocacy for humanity against the spiritual warring of the Dragon-Adversary.

The term "Israel" refers to "the people of God". Clearly, the Church is the "New Israel". See: Gal 4:28; Gal 6:14-16; Eph 2:11-12; Heb 8:1-13; 1Pe 2:1-10; Mat 21:33-46; 1 John 2:22; Luk 22:17-20; 1Co 11:23-29; 2Co 3:4-18; Heb 7:17-28; Heb 9:13-24; Heb 12:24; Heb 13:8-21; Mar 26:26-29; Mar 14:22-25

THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION

FORGIVENESS OF SIN:

But how can man in his weakness, regain sanctifying grace once lost?

God in His infinite wisdom and mercy, not only gave us His only Son to open the gates of Heaven for us, but He gave us Baptism as the sacrament of our assent, and through which we claim the merits of Christ. God not only gave us the sacrament of Baptism, but also gave us the sacrament of Reconciliation in which we can receive His forgiveness of our sins committed subsequently, provided that we seek His forgiveness with a sincere and penitent heart.

But the Catholic Church teaches that priests forgive mortal sins, how can that be? The Catholic Church teaches that mortal sins committed subsequent to having received Baptism, can be forgiven BY God THROUGH His priests in the sacrament of Reconciliation. We have been given His word on it as follows:

Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." (Cf. Jn 20:21-23)

"…And all this is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us the ministry of reconciliation…" (Cf. 2 Cor

I found scriptures to prove other points, you must also obey these since "it is written"

God Given Hemorrhoids

"The LORD will smite thee with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed." (Deuteronomy 28:27)

"But the hand of the LORD was heavy upon them of Ashdod, and he destroyed them, and smote them with emerods, [even] Ashdod and the coasts thereof" (I Samuel 5:6)

"And it was [so], that, after they had carried it about, the hand of the LORD was against the city with a very great destruction: and he smote the men of the city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts." (I Samuel 5:9)
Comment

When Israel felt rebellious against God's plan, He threatened them with type of plague: "emerods" or by today's terminology, "hemorrhoids."

No wonder why so many atheists consider God a pain in the ***. But then again, Christians and Jews develop hemorrhoids too. If you happen to develop hemorrhoids, then you can trust the Bible that God considers you an enemy.

God's Bowel Diseases

"Behold with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods: And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day." (II Chronicles 21:14-15)

"And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease. And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers." (II Chronicles 12:18-19)
Comment

Another among many instances in the Bible where the Lord smites, not only men, but all the people including women and children.

Why God would concern himself with giving an incurable cruel bowel disease where the person's guts spill out of the abdomen, goes beyond human decency and comprehension.

God's Fecal Fetish

"If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it." (Malachi 2:2-3)
Comment

Amazingly God appears to have a fecal fetish.

This commandment to the priests told by the Lord gives example of the Satanic threats of curses He seems to enjoy. What should one think of a God that would smear feces upon the faces of his creations? Such vulgarity can hardly give good example to high morality.
