What do you think about calling a grandmother "Grammi" sp? Boy is 6. She claims it is very common in some country? I think it sounds like baby talk. How old is to old to use this term?

If Grandma likes being called "Grammi", then that is what she should be called. It is her precious nickname, so let her decide. People call their grandparents all sorts of names, granny, grams, pawpaw, popo, poppy, etc. I'm 30 and I still call mine granny and poppy. If grandma doesn't like it, then you can phase it out. But it is Grandma's final call.

It's an affectionate grammatical form like Georgie, Mikey, Auntie, etc.

what a child - and eventually, adult - calls their grandparents does not have to be age-appropriate. that's just silly. grammi is adorable. my cousins call their grandmother maga (mah-guh) and i call mine imy (eye-mee). we're all adults. you may think it sounds weird, but it's endearing, and frankly, between the child and the grandparent.
p.s. we live in the u.s., if that makes a difference.

nothing wrong with that.

My brother just became grandpa (and I'll tease him for it because he doesn't look like a grandpa) and is going to leave that to his grand daughter.

No matter how they call them, it doesn't change the fact that they are granny/grandchild.
