it's part of the normal cycles of evolution
take Zoastrianism that morphed but remained so staunch in it claims and commands not to intermarry that they are litteraly dying out
I could only with Xians could be dogmatic and do the same
funny how religions evolve but those inside them refuse to see this, Christianity being a classic evolution from Judaism, Mysticism, and Pagan mythology

Wow some of these answers are amusing as they are ignorant..
a Flavor of Religion or Belief has been in Human culture since there has been any record. religion is constantly changing to reflex the time , the culture, the current fears ect.
What I find most interesting is the inherint simularitys between the religions. The Trinity for example has been around in numorous religions. Norse Gods , Greek, Roman, Christianity. The concepts of sacrifice, the fear of persicution.
It is these historical simularities that draws me and fuels a believe in something greater than ourselves

At Acts 5:33-40 the Pharisee Gamaliel told some people about some men who rose to become religious teachers, starting their own religion. In each case he said that their movements came to nothing or failed to keep existing. He said concerning the Christians these men wanted to kill, if this scheme or religion was of men, then it would come to nothing, but if it was of God no one would be able to overthrow it.
Religions come and go because they were either not godly to begin with or they had become corrupt and needed to be replaced.
Christianity replaced the Jewish religious system. (Matthew 9:16, 17; Mark 2:21,22; Luke 5:36-39)

As the human soul evolves it will discard the forms of the past and will embrace new and higher forms that help in the evolution towards spirit, just as we need a ladder to climb up on and when we reach the top we no longer need the latter ,so it is discarded. As the soul advances it then requires new ways in approaching the divine ,just as one day the image of a church will become a symbol of mans primitive approach to deity

There have been many religions that have started and passed away. Christianity, Muslim, and Judaism all have the same base root (Abraham) and have continued since the early days of mankind.
NuPhyllis - What did Esther say that was "evil and harmful"? She stated her belief. This isn't any different than you stating your belief except that she didn't point at you and call you names.

Everything dies. All civilizations collapse. All species go extinct. All stars burn themselves out.
In the scheme of things, a little religion springing up and fading away after a few millennia isn't big news.

It is fed by loneliness and the desire to share and incapability of living together with other humans. when people agglomerate they experience stress, they get angry on each other and then leave, when people are alone they have time to think they feel alone and invent gods, when they have gods they want to share and the process starts again.

Well, I can tell you that Christianity lasted for about 2000 years because of the fulfillment of the promise Jesus gave of the Holy Spirit.
Those who don't know the Holy Spirit don't understand that, but that's not my problem!
All the other religions, meh, who cares?

THEY COME AND GO WITH THE PEOPLE THAT CREATE THEM. AS THOSE PEOPLES DIE OUT OR THEIR SOCIETIES DIE OUT, ALONG WITH THEM GO THE HEART OF THEIR BELIEFS, IE: RELIGION. WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO PERPETUATE THIS VARIED IDEA OF RELIGION? AT THE BOTTOM LINE, I THINK IT'S EGO. WE CANNOT PICTURE A WORLD WHERE WE AND ALL WE LOVE DON'T GO ON IN SOME FORM. AND FROM THAT SPRINGS A WELL ETERNAL OF IDEAS SURROUNDING THE SPIRITUAL.

God's word is eternal. Heaven and earth will pass away, it will never pass away.
Lies come and go. Jesus Christ is the truth, the life and the way; now and forever.
