I had the same thing. Use a Nasal Decongestion like Sudafed. For the sore throat, put a tsp. of salt in some warm water and gargle. Don't drink any milk - it adds to the congestion in your throat. Drink gingerale or 7-up. It "cuts" the congestion.

The stuffy nose is probably causing your sore throat. It is draining into your throat. Take Drixoral or something for your nose, the throat will heal itself.
You could try gargling with warm salt water, that helps the throat.

Pickle juice will help cool and soothe the throat. For a slightly more pleasant experiance, search for recipes for "sekanjabin".
Its a Middle-Eastern drink made of water, sugar (for sweetness), vinegar (for acidity), and mint (for flavor). Very tasty. Cool and soothing on a scratchy throat or to drink on a hot day.
Also, vitamin C is supposed to help accelerate the healing process for colds. Many fruit juices can give you a boost of C, and orange-candy flavored vitamin pills are also available.
