I'm 13 years old and one of my molars hasn't come out yet. It's not even close to coming out... is that normal? All my friends have lost all their teeth ages ago!

unless you have a tooth trying to grow over it, i wouldn't worry about it. The second you see some tooth trying to grow out, but theres another tooth in the way, go to a dentist. If you do not get the "baby" tooth under it pulled, it could mess up your tooth thats growing in. Dont worry though, getting your tooth pulled doesn't hurt at all. They numb it up good. I had one pulled once when I was 12

Yes, it's normal. I had to have 2 baby teeth pulled when I was 15 so that I could get my braces. One was a molar, one was a incisor or something. They just wouldn't come out on their own and the orthodontist wanted me to get braces while my jaw was still growing.

Actually, the baby molar didn't have a permanent tooth underneath it, so they pulled the same molar on the other side so my mouth would be even.. haha

I'm missing two permanent teeth on the bottom--one came out on its own and one just stayed there.

That wouldn't have been a big problem but I needed a root canal on the tooth behind the baby tooth, so I had to have the baby tooth pulled.

It had ankylosed (fused to my jawbone) and it had to be broken out.

Yeeeouch!

But I've known people who just left baby teeth in because they didn't have permanent teeth underneath and they got them filled and left them so that they didn't need implants or bridges or whatever.

My mom and brother and I all have the same issue...not that our teeth are normal...but it's not unheard of.

Just don't wait until you have to get it broken out. Not cool.
