the reason i ask is in the spring i will be getting my ged well actualy the college im going to be attending has a program that i take a test if a pass i get well its better then a ged but not as good as a high school diploma, but anyways if i pass i will be attending the college for 2 yrs and i will earn about 689 acriedted semester hours.

With both your GED and the accumulated college hours you mentioned, you should have no problem enlisting into the Navy. Good luck !

with out a High School Diploma you need at least 15 credit hours to be considered.

no way in hell can you get 689 CH in 2 years. max allowed per semester is 18-21.

The Navy used to require a H.S. diploma with GEDs not being acceptable. Some other branches accept GEDs, the Army being one, but maybe requirements have changed. I take it you mistyped your credit hours, since I got a B.A. degree with 120 hours, the normal required amount (15 credits per semester, 2 semesters per year for four years).

The last time I checked the Navy will accept a GED in lou of a High school diploma but they are only given so many slots for GED's per quarter and it seriously impacts what jobs you will qualify for.

Mrsjvb is correct: A GED is okay with 15 or more credit hours.


And geez people, go easy on the guy. I think the 689 was a typo...

Unfortunatly you won't have the capacity to however, in case you flow to college and get credit the army will settle for you with the GED over the degree. yet i think you like atleast 15 college credit to be waiting to do this reliable luck hollyy
