Hello all,

Can anyone tell me what are my chances of enlisting in the US Army if I had Brain Aneurysm Surgery 8 years ago?

Note that I haven't have any problems since, and all of my routine MRIs came back negative for any problems.

Also, does the selected MOS affect the Medical Waiver Process?

Thanks in advance.

regardless of what people may think, they can disqualify you for pretty much anything. it wont matter if youre joining the Army when you go to meps, because its joint service. meps has only one job in the world, to make sure you get disqualified and you dont get into the Army. ive had friends that were disqualified for some of the most minor and ridiculous reasons. my suggestion is that whatever you do get a doctor to evaluate you before you go to meps, and get that docotor to say youre okay. you may not even need that but its worth doing.

bring every.scrap.of.medical.records to the recruiter. he may or may not feel confident enough to send it up for a Pre Screen. If it comes back approved, you go to MEPS and see the Docs there. they may or may not recommend a waiver. if they send it back disapproved, you won't be getting in at all.

I think it wouldn't hurt to ask. I know someone who's had 2 heart attacks and they still sent him to Iraq. So I'd at least ask. If regular army won't take you go NG and then try to go regular army after awhile.

Check with your local recruiter or ask the Army (goarmy.com). They will be able to answer all your questions about joining.
