I think majority of the people around this forum will disagree!

Maybe it would be better to ask your question in the Cat Section rather than the Dog section!

Mainly because cats are a lot easier to take care of. When you go away, if you can find a friend or neighbor to come to your house to feed them and clean the litter box that's all there is to leaving them behind. A dog you would have to kennel or have stay with someone in order to take them out for walks, feed and water them, etc. Cats are more independent and can do better on their own whereas a dog like the companionship of people.

Most people like cats because they don't need as much attention as dogs. You have to walk the dog, give the dog a bath play with the dog, cats don't need all that. The only time a cat bothers you is if their are hungry.

Some people are cat people and others are doggy. Dogs I believe give you more back in general that cats who are often quite insular and only want to see you on their terms.A cat is good for an older person for company as they do not need to take it out,

Cats are easier to take care of, but I wouldn't advise leaving one for a week without being checked on. If they happened to spill their water or they got sick it doesn't take long for things to go down hill rapidly from there. Cats are also generally quieter than dogs and they can be kept in an appartment quite well. You don't have to take them for walks like a dog and they don't eat as much as dogs either so they are cheaper to take care of.

cats are much easier to take care of. you just feed them a couple times a day and you dont have to walk them outside or take them out. and you can get an electric litter box that scoops it for you, making less work. they also don't always want to play, so they can be nice and calm and quiet, and thats what some people like. I personally favor dogs more.

I like dogs soooooooooo much more. But I guess cats are a little bit easier to care for. But not nearly as fun and affectionate as dogs.

Im not sure that's the case, actually. I think the national opinion is that dogs are better than cats. However, I like both equally :)

Its a personal preference and its like comparing apples to oranges. Cats are very different than dogs, and people like each for different reasons.

That's a new one to me--everybody I know seems to have dogs, and only one aunt has a cat. My husband's an avid cat-hater, though--he refers to them as "speed bumps." I tend to agree with my grandfather, though--he said you never own a cat.
