I'm 25, and have been in a few relationships. A few months ago, I slept with my brother's wife. He found out and gave me a black eye, which I reported to the police. My mom isn't speaking to him because she knows about the black eye, but not the affair. What should I do?

Excuse me, but what reason does he have to forgive you? Here's what I would do, don't know if its best for you or not:
1. Drop charges at police station, unless you think he'll return to beat you more
2. Apologize to your brother - for some reason I doubt you have
3. Offer to pay for any marital therapy your brother and his wife need
4. Admit to your mother what you did
5. Stay out of your brother's life for at least 5 years after you help clean up this mess
6. Find some way to develop the ethical aspects of your character

First.....appologize to your brother. You crossed that sacred line that no friend or family member should cross. Then you need to come clean with your mom. It is not fair that your brother is taking the rap for a black eye (which I am sorry to say you deseerved) when you slept with his wife. He may forgive you in time, but don't expect forgiveness any time soon. You have alot of a@@ kissing to do though. I am sorry to be blunt, but you have to understand it is a very serious matter. Friends come and go...that is true. But your family is forever.

Sorry to say but you deserved a black eye. First off the black eye will go away but his pain will never. Can you imagine if you were straight and your husband left you for another man. Or put it your way.. You got married to some leisbian and then they cheat on you with a man.
Your brother is probably thinkin he is not good enough. He may even begin thinkin that he turned his wife into a leisbian (which i highly doubt) as for your mom. I think you need to let her know what happen. (espicially if she doesn't know your a leisbian) ne way as for him forgiving you, it gonna take years cuz you made his WIFE cheat on him and with another female... his sister infact... horrible and then you reported it to the police as if you were dating her and he had no reason to do it. Personally its gonna take years for forgiveness. if he ever does

Sorry to pontificate but that was a truly horrendous thing to do to anyone, esp a brother. I don't blame him one bit and I think you have a lot of nerve calling the police for something that is so clearly your fault. And no offense, but your mother is cut from the same cloth, you're two of a kind. YOU'RE the one she shouldn't be speaking to...your brother is much better off w/o the two of you in his life.

If you were a man, it might have passed over in time, but a woman sleeping with another woman, that is definately a marriage wrecker. You stand a good chance of losing your brother for a long time. Tell your mother what you did. You are making your brother suffer for something that is not really his fault where your mother is concerned.

you absolutely need to tell your mother what happened. it's not fair he's getting blamed for something he had every right to do, whether you're a girl or not. telling her that, so they can repair some of the damage is the first step toward showing your brother you are sorry. and seriously, that's just so backwoods and sick. you should be ashamed of yourself. you never touch those who've slept with family. and as far as i'm concerned, you don't touch those who've slept with your friends either.

You were in the wrong and I think it was dumb to call the cops - you deserved that black eye. In time your brother might forgive you.

U need to tell your mother what happen.. i understand you like the feeling that she is takin your side over his for a black eye.. but sorry buddy.. u in total fault here.. and i dont think he will forgive you for years...

Your SIL is as guilty as you are- maybe more so since she took marriage vows and you did not. Punching you was wrong, but if you had the gall to sleep with his wife, you should have taken your lumps and kept your mouth shut. Tell your mother what happened- he's suffered enough at your expense and your mother may want to reassess her reaction and refuse to speak to you, instead.
