if it doesnt go away you will probably have to get the surgery. its actually a lot more common than you would imagine. keep taking the antibiotics though.

My Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary, 32rd Edition, Page 1721, 2011, says a pilonidal cyst is a cavity with a turf of hair. This means the friction of hair has moved into the skin. This cyst is rather common for men who shave their faces the incorrect way. Men should first shave down their faces with the grain from top of chin to bottom of neck. Secondly, to get a close shave, then shave against the grain from bottom of neck to top of chin. I have had one or two cysts that became infected and needed lancing by a physician until I learned I was not shaving correctly. Cysts are pouches that can contain cells and fluid. African-American males can have facial skin with small bumps that are easily cut while shaving that can become irritated and inflamed causing cysts. Consider purchasing a beard trimmer from Walmart for $15-$20. You can trim body and pubic hair as close to the skin as a razor without nicking yourself. Just make certain you pull the wrinkled skin tightly before trimming. Use a hand-held mirror to see your backside or lie on a bed and raise your legs and with the mirror you can survey your buttocks and where to trim hair. Good Luck. Harrald

a pylonidal cyst requires surgery. Antibiotics rarely do any good, call your doctor and request a referral to a surgeon, preferably a proctological surgeon.
