If it's that bad, I'd politely bring it to their attention before he tried to kiss me. You know, something along the lines of, "I'm not sure if you're aware of it, but your breath is a bit strong right now. Would you mind brushing your teeth or popping a mint please?" It's honest, but it's said gently so as not to be hurtful.

I would kiss him quickly- no tongue. He usually realizes if his breath is bad and only gives me a close-mouth kiss.

I mean...I kiss mine either way it goes. I wouldn't kiss them if I weren't comfortable with them, but on the other hand, YES.
