Perhaps you have not yet met a Christian who can render a well reasoned response for the hope he holds. Nevertheless I would add Christianity is first and foremost a matter of the heart. There is an element in the constitution of man that is deeper and greater than the mind. It is the spirit of a man, the invisible part of him by which he can commune with God. It speaks to us through our conscience, however well informed or misinformed that may be, and it tells us there is a right and a wrong, and we will be held accountable.
If you are of a scientific bent, please peruse the website of Christian astrophysicist Hugh Ross for a new perspective on the universe:

A reference to the 'Top 10 Reasons to be Atheist' that you say was silly and ridiculous, please?
I Googled the phrase, and although I couldn't find anything very scintillating, lists like this:
http://www.meetanatheist.com/2005/11/top-10-reasons-to-be-atheist.html
seemed OK to me.

top 10 reason I am not a Christian
10- tired of saying "the sky is falling/ jesus is coming soon"
9- tired of burning all bridges and then told 'right on brother'
8- I gobbled up so much garbage during tenure I now compete with Fresh Kills Landfill for world record for garbage dumped upon
7- I kept giving money to those who said god had a plan, and found self to be poor and them to become rich like they said god would do for them
6- didn't want to be associated with jihad or crusade or inquisiitons then, or now
5- ethics and free inquiry was heavily frowned upon
4- good was told to be following orders, bad was told to be taking care of self
3- I ran out of convenient answers for agnostics and atheists that made no sense coming from my guru or my own mouth
2- the bible contradicted itself and some doctrines were not found in current edition which left wiggle room to gurus and cult leaders for improv and you couldn't say it was not so
and the top reason not to become or remain a christian.....
you finally begin to feel good about this life and help those around you vs only think about a next life and trivialize this one

Wow...
I found myself pondering the same thing not too long ago. Then, I stated my case to a pastor (after he saw an essay I wrote about evolution- true evolution) and all he could ask me was whether or not my "opinions" were worth burning in hell for.
I had to let out a chuckle- and he was not amused. Needless to say, I'm not welcomed in his church anytime soon...

DNA can't make you smarter?!? What kind of ridiculous claim is that?
The reason Christians aren't very convincing is because (at least in the case of Creationism) their point doesn't have good arguments to support it.

The only thing I can't work out is just how one person manages to get so many false premises in such a small amount of words.
I thought I was fairly good with English, but that post just takes the biscuit......

Evolution does not merely encompass biological structure, but it can also include evolution through behaviors and experiences.

It's nice to see that logic is not typically an Atheist's virtue. One person with a thing to say, and all Christians are 'unconvincing'.

Fundies say the darndest things!
We should make a compilation of them and sell it as a course in fallacies of logic.
