Adult Attention Deficit Disorder. Affects many adults including myself. Usually, as is my case, we have dealt with this issue since we were children, and in most cases we have learned to compensate for it as we grow older and moire mature. But occasionally certain symptoms will become obvious. For instance when watching TV, someone suffering with ADD will become so engrossed in whatever is on the Tube that they completely tune out the world around them, and They may not even like what is being shown, but they can not help but be drawn in. I personally have found that if I am talking to someone on the phone and the TVis on, I will have to leave the room, or the next thing I know I will have completly tuned out the person on the telephone, when suddenly I realize that they are yelling my name over the phone to try to once again grab my attention.

It can be embarrassing, but rarely harmful. Their are treatments, you just need to see a professional to be diagnosed.

Don't try to diagnose someone else unless they go to the appropriate medical personnel.

Your mother has to want to get help.

You can only suggest that she get help.

Any other way you will just sound like you are criticizing.
