I have bough a Mac with OS X on it not sure what version form e-bay .. .when i got it the guy's screen name is still in there and i dont know his password so i called him and i tried the password that he tolled me but its not working ... so i bough the Mac OS X Tiger and i can install it at all.. i did the hole bid of put the OS DVD in and press and hold "C" but nothing came up ... the retailer for the program tolled me i would be able to see a menu... but nothing ... and i have tried it more then ones... is the a way to get rid of all the i dont even know the administrest pssrd... so please ... tell me how can i install MaC OS X Tiger on a lock Mac.

You can create a new account without knowing his password or installing anything.

The steps are to delete the netinfo database file and delete a file called AppleSetupDone. Then when you restart, the Mac will open the same setup program that appeared when the computer was new. You can create your own user account from scratch. It will automatically make his old account a "Deleted User" and put all of his old personal data into a disk image file that is owned by your new account.

To do this, go to the web link below and find the section "III. Restoring from defaults ". Restart and hold two keys together: Command key (has an Apple logo and/or the 4-leaf clover-like symbol) and the "S" key. That starts the Mac in "Single-user mode". You'll know you are seeing single-user mode because the screen will fill up with white geeky text on a black background. Release the two keys when you see this. Wait until the last line says "sh-2.05a#" or something similar ending with #. Then go ahead with the steps in the article below.
