Im not an alcoholic or at least i dont think i am! but i do drink alcohol around 4 times a week, can this effect ur periods?? IV been late, then today i seen some tiny amount of blood, but nothing that normally would account as a period? its a tiny amount of blood. Its been 43 days since my last period and im normally between 24-33 days! Is this due to the alcohol or stress or both? What should i do?? Am i an alcoholic?? I drink vodka around 4-5 days a week and probably go through half a bottle at a time. Is this the cause of my late periods and am i an alcoholic??

Please dont judge me, im really finding it hard to cope at home, and please be assured that my children are fed, warm, clean and are in bed before i start to drink. they want for nothing, i give them all the love in the world.

Yes. Effects of heavy alcohol use include missed menstrual periods in women, but keep in mind there's also a lot of other reasons for a missed period. Stress being a huge one.
Here, read this article it might answer some of your questions and put your mind at ease a bit: http://www.womentowomen.com/menstruation/irregularperiods.asp

I'm 42 and drink vodka as well. My family has a history of going through "the change" early, in fact, I'm the oldest so far. Anyway, I skipped a couple of periods, but then I got one....seems like my body made up for skipping two periods. I absolutely flooded for three days, even to the point of missing work. I think that it's because I cut down on the amount of vodka I drank, because It happened at the same time I decided I needed to cut down.
I wish you the best of luck.

Alcohol will affect all aspects of your health, including your periods, but especially your mental health. You drink because of your stressful situation, but you are only digging yourself further into depression. You say you are a good mother, and I do not doubt you, but it is only a matter of time before your children will be affected by your over drinking. 3 bottles of vodka a week is excessive, and if you are not careful you will fall into the "alcoholic" category. If you want an incentive to stop over drinking, just watch the Jeremy Kyle show, and see how haggered and ugly alcoholic women look.Old before your time.

If you think you have a problem wth alcohol then you probably have, social drinkers don't need to ask themselves the question am I an alcoholic, they know they aren't. 2 and half bottles of vodka a week is a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could the stress be being caused by the hangovers? Your children will pick up on your mood.

I wouldn't attribute to the vodka as much as stress. Stress always mucks up a period. I drink, and my periods are about in your time frame. But when in doubt, pick up an EPT just to make sure.
(My husband swears when I'm due for ol' Aunt Flo, I need a good "plunging" as we call it. Somehow that starts the whole thing. And I'm due for it today.) :)

Drinking effects your whole body. Yes it will cause missed and irregular periods. Try an AA meeting and stop for 30 days. See how different you feel. Trust me.
