Asking ain't enough.
If you're not open -- really sincerely open in your heart -- to Him coming into your life, then nothing will happen.
Even if you are sincere, you might or might not get some kind of great epiphany. You might or might not get a warm 'n' fuzzy feeling. You might not feel anything at all.
But He would still be there. And over time if you persevered you would know it.

Great question.
It is not so easy it sounds but then in the other hand it is. The first you need to believe He exists, and He does what He says He does. So this requires some degree of spiritual maturity. But you can talk to God how things are, and tell that you have doubts and you would really appreciate it if He would guide you in the process.
The new life would start for you. You will have to have a change of attitude. You would need to let god to be in control.
No, He will not make a physical appearance until He returns, however, we do not know when He is appearing as a homeless person or a starving child or a person in life's dire situations, and we are ought to serve Him." Whatever you do to the littlest one of them, you do it to me"
No, everyone does not have the same experience as you. That is why it is called personal relationship with Jesus.
You might cry when the Holy Spirit moves into your heart.
You will have a strong feeling that He is real, but the doubt is also a part of Christian life. Especially if you want to do something that you know God does not want you to do. So know His Word, and you are OK with your actions if you can back it up by the Bible.
They will, give it time. : )

If you ask God into your life, you won't get the bells and whistles (necessarily-- once in awhile someone gets them... just not most of us and you shouldn't expect them, though it never hurts to ask!)... but you will have a strong support in your emotional life, you will find that you make decisions differently, and you will feel a better sense of inner peace. God is always there watching-- free will allows us to listen or to ignore.
The difference between man and the next most intelligent creature (regardless of what good or bad we have done with our intelligence-- again, you're dealing with free will here) is huge. To deny that Someone Else had a hand in our existence is beyond my comprehension. Whatever man is and can be, there is so much uncertainty in the world, it's comforting to know Someone is watching.
I've waited for signs-- they come often but not in obvious ways. God created EVERYTHING, so a sign can be as simple as a bird on a windowsill... not lightning and visions.
Good luck on your spiritual search.

Man cannot predict the actions of God. He can reveal Himself to you in many ways: a feeling, a voice, a dream/vision, an event, a person...there are many more ways. You will know. Have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior? Are you trying to determine whether or not you should? Speak to Him, ask Him your questions, tell Him your concerns. Have you already asked Him to reveal Himself to you? If not, you should. Ask Him to guide and lead you. He loves you, reach out to Him.

there may or may not be a "sign". if you belive in God, you must rely on faith. God may make a sign, but usually only to those he knows will make a dramatic difference in the world. even if Lod doesnt give you a sign, you can FEEL it. when i get out of confession, my heart slows its beating and my main instinct is to pray. I think that the human body KNOWS somehow that Lord is here, even if he isnt exactly in a physically form. all you have to do is believe and you will know.

It happens different for all of us. For instance, God speaks to me through His Word and nature. He speaks to others through the a audible voice. I haven't heard anything, but I sure do know when He's speaking to me. If you ask He will answer you in a way that YOU will understand. If it takes a burning bush like it did the Bible, then He can do that too. I've prayed for you while typing this, that God would reveal Himself to you in a mighty way, that you won't be able to deny Him beyond this day. May God Bless and Keep You in His Abiding Love!

You have to not only as God to reveal himself to you, but you must live by his law in order for the communication level with him to grow. You will feel his presence all over you and your whole life will change drastically over a period of time God. If you truly love him and seek after him, then he will reveal himself to you. He may not revel himself in the same way that he did to me or someone else. Each person's walk with God is different. So each level of relationship and communication with him will also be different. The Lord loves you and wants for all his children to come to him. Do not look for a sign of God. For he said he will only choose those who walk by faith. Faith is believing in something unseen, or without logical proof. Good Luck!

Something does happen. I didn't believe but changed. I never felt so emotional, even to the point of crying. It usually effects people that way. The feeling is such a feeling of peace and joy like a big heavy burden has been lifted off of your shoulders. You begin to make the right decisions for your life. You choose to be a better person. You know when what you are doing is pleasing to God.

The answer depends upon your sincerity. There are no "magic words" to utter and therefore become a Christian. It is the establishment of a relationship that is the essence of salvation.
If you truly regretted your sins and understood that you were in need of forgiveness and that Jesus died to pay for that sin and arose from the grave victorious over death and that he ascended into Heaven than you will receive new life. That relationship will be there forever. The actual "feeling" that happens is a different as each person.

Well....most people like to say "I have to see it to believe it." God...is something you can't see physically, yet he is all around. He's working in our lives everyday, taking and creating life.
The Lord didn't "reveal" himself to me, but he made an impact on my life. For other people, such as my father, it changed his life completely. From doing drugs, and hanging with the wrong crowd, he changed into a very religious man. God changed him, stopped his addictions with no medications, pulled him away from bad friends. God can fix what you've done wrong when you ask for forgiveness, but He won't tell you to do so. You come to Him.
God makes an impact on our lives if we accept Him in our hearts as our Lord and Savior. Believing this gives us a one-way ticket to heaven where we "will" see Him, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

your life would be so much better and all good things would come to you as long as you believed in God with all your heart. You would have a strong feeling that he was real, and no you wont see God until you die and move on to the after life you would just know that he is there by the good things that would happen to you.
