Yes, yes, and yes. Squeeling your tires is a moving violation, and it's often referred to by the traffic code as "laying drag". Excessively loud exhaust (whether due to a replacement "performance" aftermarket muffler or a rusted-out muffler) can also get you a ticket. I'm not sure exactly what standard cops go by or if they precisely measure the sound of your exhaust somehow, but it has to be pretty significantly louder than even the loudest properly working stock muffler to attract their attention. I don't know exactly how blatant you were when you squeeled your tires, but if you just inadvertantly hit the gas a little bit hard when going around a turn and a wheel squeeked slightly while you were right in front of a cop, you can tell the judge that one of your tires was just very low on air and that's what caused it. As for your loud exhaust, bring a repair invoice from a mechanic showing that it has been fixed and maybe he will drop that charge.

Squealing tires may be a moving violation or a noise violation. Yes, you can be ticketed, but if I were you, I would look up the ordinance because many ordinances do NOT have a criterion for number of decibels listed. It may just state "in the opinion of the officer..." You can beat that by questioning the officer's rationale based on the circumstances. It was over 90 degrees and I hit the gas when the light turned green... and I was turning a corner at 5 miles per hour... How was I to know that was illegal? The city street department should be named co-defendant...Loud exhaust is a noise violation. Over 90 decibels can be harmful to hearing. Look up the ordinance. Good luck.

squealing tires - I heard they could get you with "unsafe" acceleration or something to that extent
loud exhaust - Every state has a limit of some type on just how "loud" it can be.
The first could be a moving violation , the second I seriously doubt it

They got you with the squealing wheels darlin'. That is considered wreckless driving in most states. I know, I know, it isn't fair.
