Personally, I'd put most of them in the "UFO" category. They saw/heard something, but it probably wasn't what they thought they saw.
Unless someone attempts to kill their kid because God told them to (like an certain un-named biblical character). Then I'd vote that it was mental illness over diety inspired command.

I think the Amish want to keep their lifestyle as simple as possible and they base this on the bible. To my (admittedly slight) knowledge use of the computer is currently not accepted.
Therefore you are using Antichrist technology and Antichrist science by posting on yahoo answers. Get off that computer before Satan tempts you to spend more unprofitable time on yahoo answer instead of praying for your soul!

The people THEN thought those who professed to hear from God were hallucinating...so YES, if there are any legitimate testimonies of people hearing from God now, non-believers believe it is mental illness.
Obviously some people are just way out there and are truly in need of diagnosis and meds...
As people mature in their belief systems, they can appear somewhat unusual, but that is not mental illness.
If you sincerely ask God for proof of existence, you will get it. Not in the way anyone expects, and not in your time...but when the answer comes you may ask yourself if you are hallucinating. Only you in your heart of hearts will know for sure.

Those who had the halucinations called them Gods, could those who heard the voices distinquish who's voices belonged to who ?
If God talked to you would you know which God was speaking to you ?
Would it be God the Father who art in heaven ?
Would it be God the Son of God the Father who art in heaven ?
Would it be God the Holy Spirit who is the messenger of God the Father who art in heaven ?
Would it be God the father who art in hell ?
Would it be the son of God the Father who art in hell ?
Would it be a messenger of God the father who art in hell ?
How would you know the difference, we called all of them God?
Jesus told you, but still you do not believe Jesus.

Honestly, they would be considered 'nutters' and be hauled off to the psych ward at the nearest hospital.
First off, prophecies goes against free will, since humans are suppose to have free will, we would be able to change the future at all times, hence disallowing any prophesies to be "seen".

all the way, but you'd never hear about them because they'd already be locked in a mental institution, keep it to them selves, or be on medication for it
