What is the difference in setting and plot?

The setting is where the story takes place. For example, The Perfect Storm takes place on the ocean. The plot is the story line, what happens. In that story, the storm causes great tragedy.

The setting is the location and surroundings of the story. The plot is the pattern of events or main story in a narrative or drama.
