your parents can't force you to do anything, it your responsibility to do what is right. and taraweeh isn't obligatory, so you can't be forced to do it

In the U.S. and Canada, the taraweeh prayers are usually read by people who understand the meaning of the Qur'an. Therefore, they are longer so that the beauty of the words aren't messed up. In other countries that don't speak Arabic, like Pakistan or elsewhere, it is USUALLY read fast because what is being said is not understood. I'm not saying that Pakistanis or any one else reads it bad, it's just that because they don't understand the Arabic, they just read it fast because it's just reciting. Also, they're really long because they have to cover the ENTIRE Qur'an in just a month, with only 20 rak'as. They really only read 1 page of the Qur'an (the standard green-and-gold one with 600 pages, do you know which one I'm talking about?) So if you want the time to go by faster, it helps to read the translation of the juz being read that night and then at night, take a copy of the green-and-gold Qur'an and read along with the Qari.

You are 20 years old, you shouldn't have to be forced to go and read your taraweeh prayers, you should be going yourself to the mosque.. It is compulsory on you, we only have 1month and that is it, you should make the most of it, imagine going to this prayer, the sins you are washing away, imagine your prayers being answered. I think men are lucky they have a chance to go to the mosque, and women have to pray at home. You shouldn't feel lazy, you should go at the end of the month, you will feel contented in your heart, that i was a good muslim, and followed the path of our Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). We are so lucky that we have this holy month to change ourselves, no other religions has this. So come on don't be lazy, if parents are forcing you and that is when you go to the mosque, you won't feel like your there, but if you do it from your heart and you make your own way to the mosque, you will feel so good inside and you will feel i came here on my own, and i am proud, can you imagine the rewards you are collecting. I have a son of 19 and sometimes i have to push him too, and i tell him exactly what i have told you, and now he does it on his own mashallah.. So come on we only have now 27fasts to go, and i promise you, you will find inner peace and it is the best feeling ever.. Ramadan Mubarak

Even though they are very spiritual and I loved it when I used to attend them. But no your parents can't force you to go to taraweeh. If you are only praying from fear of your parents then I doubt it is any good.

It is the best part of this Ramadan. Initially you don't feel it, but towards the end of the month, you feel the power in you. Especially in young age you enjoy more. Experience the physiological change to believe it.
