I was wondering how christians feel about the fact that the divinty of jesus was not established until long after he died, by a vote from the church. It was also a close vote at that

How true, Brent:

The first Council of Ephesus determined that Mary was the mother of God.

Then the second Council of Ephesus argued His divine nature related to his human nature. That ended in a brawl.

However, Jesus did say that He and His Father were one, and the same Holy Spirit of Elohim that moved over the deep was promised by Jesus, and He said to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The divinity of Christ is called the Mystery of godliness, and even in heaven we will not understand fully, but we do know that when you are married, God considers you one flesh, so even in the Godhead, there is perfect oneness.

A Bible code tells how God could become your redeemer. See http;//abiblecode.tripod.com

People believed in Jesus Christ long before the term "Christian" was termed to describe our religious beliefs. You say the "divinity of Jesus was not established until long after he died, by a vote from the church." The divinity of Jesus was alive and established long before a group of people sat down and voted on it. Whether they had decided to vote or not, and regardless of the outcome, didn't determine Jesus' identity! God did. Their votes were for their own benefit, not for God's.

I am a former rabbinic Jew, now a Messianic Jew. And I have read enough of the Jewish version of the Bible-The Tenakh-to see that the rabbinic Jew IS NOT A COMPLETED JEW...AND THOSE ARE FROM THE WORDS OF THE OLD, NOT NEW, TESTAMENT.

In fact, according to Scripture, the Jews who occupy Israel today are not truly Jewish. They follow those who in Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy were SEPARATED from the rest of the people, and were promised the wealth of the tithes, but, in their own words, the rabbis and their followers were NOT PROMISED THE LAND.

They were supposed ot make sacrifices, gifts on the altar to help gain atonement for those who strayed, but they were supposed to know enough about the law to keep the people close to the Law that was given to Moses.

They didn't do that. The people, the sheep strayed because those who were descendants of Aaron and his sons, the Levites, those who were separated, were more concerned from the very start with themselves than with the people.

Funny thing, though--does anyone who reads this know what the word PHARISEE means? Does anyone realize it means those who are SEPARATED?

Has anyone read Isaiah 9, Isaiah 53 where the one who was without sin and died for the sins of others, in verse 12 "made intercession for the transgressors." To make intercession is to be the middle man, so IT IS BASED ON THE OLD, NOT THE NEW TESTAMENT THAT THE WAY TO THE FATHER IS THROUGH THE SON!

This was half a millennium BEFORE He came to exist. The concept of the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us came 2000 years before the Spirit arrived.

Jeremaiah 31:31-34, where the Jews were accused by HaShem/G-D of breaking the seal of the Old covenant and necessitating the New COVENANT (COVENANT IS a synonym for Testament) came 500 year BEFORE Jesus.

Ezekiel 34, where HaShem says He has had it with those who did not tend to the flock, and He Himself would come down with His servant David--the same servant Isaiah discussed--to bring the sheep back, to judge each one for his or her own heart--came 500 years BEFORE, NOT AFTER.

The story of Passover, the commemoration of the time when the first born son was supposed to die, but because of the sacrifice, didn't, came 2 MILLENNIUM BEFORE the First Born and Only Son did not die...

How much proof does one need? It is in the Book....and it NOT a 39 chapter book and a 27 chapter New book...The Book of Hebrews nas been misinterpreted soooo many times....Read Hebrews 7:27 anyone who cares---it says that what is replaced is NOT THE LAW OF THE JEWS, NOT THE OLD TESTAMENT....what has been replaced is the system of sacrificing by men who were just that-men-and had their own sins, their own iniquities, so one who was above sin came, as prophesied.

Paul, who originally as Rav Sha'ul, Saul of Tarsus, stoned those he thought were blaspheming, wrote several epistles and even if another later touched it, as has been claimed, Paul would not have written anything if he had not seen for himself that which he saw. He would not have made any journeys.

It's all there...has been for centuries...if people could give up their pride as I havem, could read the books as i did, and see the connection they might be as surprised as I have been to make the realizations I have--TO BE A JEW IS TO BE A CHRISTIAN...NOT AS THE CHURCH SAYS IT IS, BUT AS THE OLD AND THE NEW TESTAMENT SAY---and those who hold to their beliefs, in so ma ny cases, have never even looked at the comparisons to see them there.

I AM A JEW WHO OBSERVES THE TORAH AND A CHRISTIAN WHO BELIEVES IN CHRIST, A MESSIANIC JEW--AND I HAVE ONE BOOK, TWO VOLUMES, 56 CHAPTERS THAT SHOWS THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE...
IT IS A COMPLETION...

and if one reads it-it is there to see.in black, white and red all over..

It was "established" LONG before that. You really should read a REAL history book, rather than "The DaVinci Code" or stuff from the Internet.

The Council of Nicea was called in 325 A.D....and simply REAFFIRMED the church's teaching on the Deity of Jesus Christ...because people who followed the heretic priest Arius were perverting the truth taught by the Church.

Well, I don't believe that is so. The scriptures very plainly speak of the divinity of Jesus. There is no doubt that before being born as a human, Jesus existed as a divine person in the heavens. And when he was resurrected to the heavens, he was once more a divine person. Perhaps you are referring to the teaching that he is God Almighty. That is another subject, but to be sure, Jesus was and is definitely divine.

You folks that are quoting the old testament do understand that Jews are still awaiting the Messiah, right? Your premise is that Jesus was the Messaiah...not everyone agrees with that premise...some believe he was just another prophet, right?

Jesus said he was the Son of Man, and that the Kingdom of Heaven was inside each of us; that we are all the children of God...I don't recall that he ever told people to worship him...he said to worship God. Sounds like he was pretty much convinced of God's divinity...but obviously was a little reticent about his own divinity....

So wrong, throughout the Old Testament, the FACT that
Jesus was God in the flesh is most evident!!! Psalms
132:11, "The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will
not turn from it; OF THE FRUIT OF THY BODY WILL I SET
UPON THY THRONE". This is repeated in the New
Testament, Acts 2:30. Notice it is God speaking in the Tora, and He says He/God will set upon David's throne and through
the fruit of David's body. Jesus was the fulfillment of this
prophecy. The Old Testament predates any man made
orgainization which might have chosen to vote upon this
fact. Especially, since it was such organizations which set
out to destroy not only Jesus, but His Holy Word and those
who proclaimed it.

Colossians 2:9, speaking of Christ, "For in him dwelleth all
the fulness of the Godhead bodily". This leaves room for
no other part of the Godhead.

Baptize in the NAME of the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit and that one name is Jesus. It doesn't say in the names
plural but in the name, singular; Acts 8:16, "...they were
baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus". Jesus said in John
2:19, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I WILL RAISE
IT UP". He was speaking of His body being raised back
to life and He said, I WILL RAISE IT UP. He was God in the
flesh!!!

The divinity of Jesus was established BEFORE he was born.

The prophet Isaiah, in Isaiah 9:6,7, called Him “the Mighty God.”

And his divinity was never in doubt when He walked the earth.

In John 3:16, Jesus is called the “only begotten Son” of God sent to save the world from sin.

Also in Philippians 2:9-11, Paul wrote, “Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

In John 10:30, we read, “I and my Father are one.” These are the words of Jesus describing His relationship to the Father.

“Truly, this was the Son of God” (Matthew 27:54).

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they” (Hebrews 1:1-4).

There was no question of Jesus divinity in the Bible and it did not take a vote to establish it.

Stop trusting such nonsense as the "Da Vinci Code" for accurate history.

Joh 10:30 I and the Father are One!
Joh 10:31 Then again the Jews took up stones, that they might stone Him.
Why did they want to stone Him? Because He claimed to be God.

Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

No one else ever claimed to be the only way to the Father.

Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Before Abraham came to be, I AM!

Here, He uses the name for Given in Exodus, I AM. The self existent One.

Joh 18:4 Then knowing all the things coming upon Him, going forth, Jesus said to them, Whom do you seek?
Joh 18:5 They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene. Jesus said to them, I AM! And Judas, the one betraying Him, also stood with them.
Joh 18:6 Then when He said to them, I AM, they departed into the rear and fell to the ground.

By just saying I AM, they fell down before Him.

He is God, very God, from eternity past to eternity future. No man decided this, He proclaimed it.
