I can't take credit for this, I read it on a message board. But it sums up my beliefs very well:

"It's sad that in times when we are more globally connected than ever before, we choose to isolate ourselves and our children over stuff like this. Because, really, what does it matter? Why do I care why my neighbor treats me with respect and dignity, whether because he thinks me a child of God or a merely a fellow human, so long as they do in fact treat me with respect and dignity? And me them. It's the actions that matter, not the beliefs."

I would sum it up as "do as you will but harm NO one" which includes yourself, family, friends, community, and the world at large. We are all a part of something greater. Each one of us must find our path, yet respect those who chose differently. It is important to connect with each other and ourselves.

I'd want to to be less wordy and more to the point. While a nice sentiment, the point is gotten across in "Be respectful and tolerant."

For me, it is far more important how someone believes than what they believe.
