I have hair on my chin and it really annoys me! I had always plucked them until there was so many, and so now I shave everyday and it makes me feel so unfeminine. I have been planning to get my eyebrows waxed soon and was wondering if any of you have had your chin waxed, and if so...how long would I need to grow those hairs out before I could get them waxed? Thanks in advance ladies.

I just got waxed for the first time in over 25 years ... and I have both a 'mustache and beard' that I shaved daily. I made my appointment on a Friday, and got the waxing done on Tuesday at 1:00. I shaved Friday, but not after that. The waxing didn't get 'every hair' but it's now the next Friday, I haven't had to 'shave' and I probably won't need to get 're-waxed' for another week or two at the rate my hair is growing. GET IT DONE. Don't 'shave' for at least 4 days, though, and don't expect it to be 'perfect' until the third or fourth 'wax' you get. That's what Sara told me, and she ought to know ... she's GORGEOUS, but she's also like you and I are ... 'really hairy' ... it's one of the reasons she's the only one who does 'waxes' at that hair salon. IT IS SO WORTH THE MONEY!

Because of my PCOS, I too suffer from excess facial hair.
And it is not only annoying but time consuming, expensive and a blow to a womans ego. As of now, I do a combination of plucking, trimming and bleaching. I have seen a specialist about laser hair removal and for about $100 a session, it can be done. But they claim it takes about 5-8 sessions the first year and then 1-2 the following year.

For now, I would try the waxing. My secretary waxes her armpits and she said the first few times it was bad but now her hairs come in finer and not as much. Also, I would go at least 4-5 days and if you are worried about someone seeing you........plan to have it done on a Monday am so you have the weekend to let them grow and can stay home. PLUS.....if you can't stay home or won't, use the bleach to hide the hairs. The only ones that would notice the short bleached hairs is someone who is up close to you.......a partner perhaps.

Good luck!

I feel your pain, I have a couple of stray hairs on my chin and I pluck them all the time. It does seem that as I get older, more of those little suckers are appearing.

In order to wax them, you're going to have to have enough hair grown out for the wax to hold onto. Look at how long your eyebrow hairs are and that might be a good indicator.

Here's a suggestion however... have you ever looked into Electrolysis? I had a friend who removed facial hair this way and she swore by it. It's probably at least worth looking into.

Good luck to you. =)

sorry you are dealing with this. My cousin has the same issue. She waits about 2-3 weeks between just because your face is sensative and you can't do that too often. If you think about how red your eyebrows get after waxing I mean it seems like the top layer of skin is reomoved. Your best bet would be to do laser hair removal. It would end up costing you the same amount you'd spend in 1 year on waxing. It's cheaper than it used to be. My cousin is saving for that now and just shaving in order to save that money she would be spending on waxing. I mean $1000ish to ge it done and never have to deal with it again. I'm going to do my under arms and legs as soon as I save too. It just seems so worth it.

I am a retired hairdresser. In the shops where I've worked, the ladies would come in for a wax,,,,and if they could see the hair, on the chin or upper lip, they would get it waxed. Its not very painful, just looks painful at first....but I think once a person gets used to it,,,,,its not a big deal,,,,, however ignoring those pesky hairs is ,,,, and for the sake of you disappearing with some circus somewhere,,,,, I think it would behoove you to get those waxed..... dear..... lol

I thing you should laser your chin. I had the same problem and waxing only did the problem bigger. My hair got thicker and darker, I guess that's what shaving is doing to yours. If you have face hair then I'm guessing that your hair grow up quickly like mine.... So if you decide to wax them, your hair will need to be waxed every week. The best answer to facial hair is laser. I tried it and my problem solved.

My friend used to have her chin waxed after her hormones went haywire while being pregnant. The results can vary and last longer over time. To start,i'd say waxing lasts 2 to 3 weeks, then upto 6 weeks after you've been waxing for a while.

The ideal wax length is anything over 4cm's They do need to be long-ish,so the wax can get a "grip" on them.

Have you been to your doctor about your hairs? They do have some pills you can take to help control the hormones or whatever is making your grow excess hair.
As i said,my friend used to suffer from this, but now she's on a contraceptive pill to control her hormones, and it's stopped the excess hair from growing x

Of course you can get your chin waxed. The hair doesn't need to be too long, just long enough so that the wax has something to grab.

Hello!!
Go to the GP to have your blood level of testosterone and shbg (sex hormone binding globulin!!) checked out!! If these are unbalanced like mine is you may have PCOS (polycyctic ovarian syndrome!!) like me! Symptoms of this disorder are excess facial and body hair, irregular or no periods, infertility, weight gain. Go onto verity.co.uk to check out more, this is a brilliant site that give loads of advice.

As regards shaving and plucking chin hairs, I have tried to wax the hair on my chin but as the hair is so coarse you have to keep on doing it at one time and end up taking layers of skin off at the same time!! I foolishly did it one Sunday night and by the time I had to go to work the next day I had scabs and blood all over me!! Nice!! I think shaving is the best bet! I know it doesn't feel feminine but I would rather shave than forget to do it and I end up with a beard!!

Good luck!!

xx

yes you need to grow the hairs out a little to have something for the wax to grab onto. STOP shaving your chin and start waxing it instead.
