There will be many that think they are saved, but are not.
It takes a relationship with Jesus as Savior to deliver you from Hell.
Many who think that going to church, performing good works, not kicking the dog will be in Hell because they have not accepted Jesus as Lord.
Bill Weise wrote a Book, " 23 Minutes in Hell" where he describes the sights, sounds, and smells of Hell that he saw when he was there.

For the Christians out there:
I'm not a Christian. I do not attend church or devote my life to a belief structure. What happens to the "Christians" that are holier than thou? The ones that pass judgment upon my family and I for not having a religion? All your lives you preach, pray, and shove religion down the throats of those that don't want to hear it but when they refuse you condemn them.
When you are on your missionary work you take a tribe or civilization with different beliefs and twist their religion around. You refuse to feed and clothe these people until they accept Christ. Is that what Jesus wants?
How about the Christians that murdered, raped, and enslaved Native Americans in the name of Jesus or God?
Colonel John Chivington, a Methodist Minister annihilated the Indians at Sand Creek in such a way.
I have yet to meet a Christian that follows the concept, "What Would Jesus Do?"
Christians have back stabbed and insulted my family far too long. I believe in God and Jesus. But I also know that I do not have to enslave myself to be part of a pathetic religion or church to get into Heaven.
All religions think they are better than the next. No one Christian has anything nice to say about another religion. Christians feel they can sin and ask God for forgiveness and all is well.
But they condemn us all for not following them blindly into belief instead of ideas.

I understand your question.
I am not a christian but would like to answer why they cannot.
You see, many christians are so wrapped up in their own "salvation" that they can no longer think or question. They could not even grasp the concept that they might not go to heaven. They assume, because they were taught, that merely believing is enough for heaven. So now that they are "saved" they no longer need to worry about any of it. God takes care of all.
Personally, if I died and went to heaven I would still be freakin. I would deny where I am and seek every way to escape. But alas, heaven is guarded, gates and gatekeepers.

Everyone goes to 'hell' when they die...believer and non-believer. Hell means the place of the dead or grave. One cannot be alive AND dead at the same time. You are either alive forever, or dead forever.
Christians who believe in, and teach, an ever-burning hell for the "un-saved", are deceived. The difference between a believer and a non-believer is...a believer is born twice and dies once. Non-believers are born once and die twice... and from the second death there is no resurrection.
This truth enrages the "ever-burning hell" crowd. They want everlasting punishing... not just punishment. Aren't you glad God is our Judge?

In Jesus there is no sin, there's no lack. In Him, there is the totality.
Everybody who holds to the Truth, shall not die. They are in Heaven already, even though still in this world.
For those who holds the truth, hell is no more a reality. There's only Heaven and there's nothing can separate us from God.
There's only One God, that is the God of love, of mercy and forgiveness. And this One God does NOT punish nor condemn, because how can love do these?
He is Love. In Love there's only forgiveness, compassion and blessings.
Therefore, hell is no more.

It is going to be a real shock to them when they realise that either:
They picked the wrong religion.
Or betting on Pascal's weger is not a good enough reason to get into heaven.
Most of these idiots are too dense though. They seriously think that if you believe in a god you are a Christian.

that question approaches insulting for christians. Im telling you this becuse Your question seems right on the line of being kinda bland and being really intellegent. In the sake of tolerance you shouldnt have said "real god". Also clarification of who the H*** you are talking about would be nice.
when i die and go to Hel, im going to go looking for Mozart so we can play pool.

Good Grief!
How many times do I need to tell you folks out there,
THERE IS NO HELL... NO GUY IN RED TIGHTS, HORNS AND A PITCHFORK.
Hell is what you make it.
If you are a miserable person & you make it that way for everyone you know, then you have created your own personal "Hell" and frankly the rest of us do not wish to partcipate in that sort of melodrama.
But thanks for playing.

I won't be going to hell. That is a place for those who rebuke God.
I am saved and when I take my last breath, I will face to face with the Lord I have loved and lived for. Jesus will welcome me home..
