I just moved in with the love of my life and he just bought a house! Unfortunetly the bathroom is XTREMLY small and its the only one for right now. So my question is how do u make an incredably small space look huge and what are some good storage shelfs and whatnot to put in the bathroom that some of you have used/using?

Firstly, you will not be able to do anything to make it look HUGE. Your problem is storage, so I would tackle that issue, rather than worrying about spacial perception. Without knowing the cabinetry, I would suggest you go with a neutral tan or camel colour on the wall - always a 'classy' look. And make all the towels and cloths and shower curtain in white terry cloth - will give it a spa feel. Next, use square storage baskets with white fabric liners in whatever shelves are open, and if you have space, install an open shelving system, where you can place the baskets. This is very nice looking, and it is practical for storage. Good luck!

You might also go to www.bhg.com - they have a great section on storage in bathrooms!

Make sure your paint color is light and airy, nothing dark or loud. Use whites, neutrals or pastels. Bright colors make a room look bigger because they blur the perimeter lines that define the rooms limits. If you want wallpaper, be simple. Verticle lines lead the eye up and are a better choice. If there is tile in the tub area make sure the tile reaches up to the ceiling and is not cut off because this is where your eye will stop. For the floors, use larger scale tiles so to have fewer grout lines. Are there windows? Let the light in. If there are no windows, a minor tranformation would be to install a skylight. This will create a feeling of openess. Use a frameless glass shower door, no seams. If you have a curtain, keep it open and again stick with a light color. As for storage, Floating cabinets or recessed cabinets are your best bet. Nothing on the floor to take up space. I know you need the extra storage but I like the idea of a pedestal sink. This also makes the area appear larger. Do you have a hallway linen closet? Use it for the items you do not use everyday or the bulky items. I hope all of this helps.

Light colored paint will make it appear larger. No way to make it look huge. The more storage you install, the more cramped it will look. Some shelving over the toilet tank can help. Being a bathroom, it is used for bathing and "personal" use. Remove anything that doesn't fit in this category.

Light colors. Or off white.
Use as large a mirror as possible. The larger the mirror, the more space you see reflected in it and in turn the more your eye is fooled into thinking that, that space is really there.
