Yes, I'm a Cold War veteran. I served in southern Turkey in the early 1980s. Where I was stationed, it was only 20 minutes by fighter aircraft through the mountains to the north... to Moscow. I also served in the Republic of Korea, 30 miles south of the DMZ. Stateside, I served with at a couple of tactical fighter bases. Did 10 years active duty, and 10 years Guard and Reserve. Recently, I got together with Cold War veterans from Florida, New York, Maine, Wisconsin, Arkansas, and Missouri and we founded a new veterans service organization: American Cold War Veterans.

I am a Medically Retired Army NCO 91-04...I have recently been talking to the Georgia National Guard to see if I can join as an Officer...been on several deployments...volunteered to go to Iraq of Afghanistan before I was Med Boarded, but DA at the time did not need my MOS...I feel like I need to do something...all I have ever been was a Soldier, joined when I was 18...I have a DA Civilian job right now, so I don't want to lose it, so the National Guard might fit what I am looking for...

I wish I had been allowed. My biggest dream in my whole life was to be a part of the Army, but due to disability, I got turned down in 1986. All I can do now, regarding your question is to continue to support and love the troops. If none of you ever knew it, you do now, that there are some American civilians who wish they could be like you!
God Bless you, and America!

Yes. Retired Navy. Volunteered to come off the Retired List three days after the attack on America. Federal law prevents it because of my age.

I'm retired USN after 23 years of service to our country.
Given a choice I would do it all again.
Now I am living in Paradise on a Tropical Island in the Philippines with my wife for the rest of my life.
