Nothing special. The majority of the world believes there is something out there because God has put it into them. He then came in the person of Christ to make that something known to you. He also made the church so that you could learn, grow, and mature in your relationship to him and others. There is no such thing as lone wolf faith. The hardest part of being a child of god is dealing with his other children. IF you've had bad experiences with church, you find another. But at some point you console yourself with the fact that church's are full of sinners, just like any gathering of people. The difference is that they are saved sinners and god is working in them and you to come to full maturity. Don't abandon what god instituted. Christ loves the church, and so should you.
"Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy" (Ephesians 5:25-26)
And Hebrews 10:25 says that we aren't to give up going to church.

Maybe you're a humanist like me. Humanism is a philosophy of life inspired by humanity and guided by reason. It provides the basis for a fulfilling and ethical life without religion.
Humanists make sense of the world using reason, experience and shared human values.
Humanists see no convincing evidence for gods, the supernatural, or life after death.
Humanists believe that moral values are properly founded on human empathy and scientific understanding.
Humanists believe we must live this life on the basis that it is the only life we'll have -- that, therefore, we must make the most of it for ourselves, each other, and our world.
Humanist philosophies have arisen separately in many different cultures over many thousands of years. Whether or not they use the term humanism, tens of millions of Americans and hundreds of millions of people around the world agree with the humanist philosophy of living a happy and productive life based on reason and compassion.

A lost person. Have you ever lost your way? Someone who is lost doesn't know which way to go because they cannot see. I assure you that if you pray to God with all your heart and ask Him to reveal Himself to you He will do so. All I did was ask because I was just like you for the first 28 years of my life. I was unsure of life after death, religion, and even the existance of a God. I am 33 now and sure of truth and my future and I have a peace that passes all understanding. Ask then wait. I would be more than glad to share my experience with you, just drop an email if I can help. Peace

Confused.... Agnostic... even egotistical... lots of labels could fit... If you are talking about yourself, feel free to email me if you have any honest questions about the basics of The Christian Faith... which is what you seem to be refering to in using the words "church"& "church goer".... one honest question will receive one honest answer to the best of my ability.

Agnostic.
The term "gnosos" in Greek is "to know". The word "agnosos" means to "not know" or "unknowable". The term Agnostic refers to one who believes that there is a God, but that He is unknowable or beyond our being able to come into personal contact. This was the opposite of the "gnostics" of Paul's day who believed they had "secret knowledge" that no one else had. Agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of God; or, alternatively, that while individual certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge.
Jesus prayed to God for those who would believe in Him the following in John 17:3, "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."
Based on this truth straight from Jesus Himself, you can move from agnostic to intelligent believer. But what of evidence for belief? Most agnostics I have met are those who want to believe, but feel it disingenuous to do so on face value--without due evidence. I find they lack the tools to explore the evidence. If one is willing to take a glance into the eternal, I provide the tools to do so within the following blog link. - God speed.

agnostic (i.e. you don't claim to know). I'm an atheist--I specifically do not believe in the existance of supernatural agencies, and would require scientific proof to change my mind and accept that such entities really did exist!
