Why are they mostly 40? 50 and up?
There are a few under that, but the bulk seems to be older people.

Most of them did not fight in wars. Most of them have ancestors that fought in wars. I have ancestors that fought in WW 2 and the Korea war.I myself as Mexican-American fought in the Viet Nam. When I came back I was treated the same shiity way by WHITE PEOPLE. The white people of today are just carrying on the tradition of hate. As they were taught by their parents.Illegal is just an excuse for white people to hate more. This BS from white people is not going tp work on me.

Your wrong about the age of "pro border" people, I am in my mid 20's and want a controlled border also and so does most of the people I know.

As for why older people want a controlled border, I would have to guess its due to the fact that they see their tax dollars abused on a daily basis but when that abuse comes in the form of non citizens it stings a little more.

People are looking at a Social Security system that will not be there when my generation retires but that does not stop the 6.2 (ss tax) or the 1.45 (medicare tax) along with your employment (approx 19%) and unemployment taxes (not sure the percentage), state tax (also not sure), any local tax not to mention the annual property tax... Did I forget any? oh yeah the ever popular sales tax. Also do I need to mention that an open border is an open invitation to anyone that may wish to harm us.

Those that are able to patrol tend to be retirees. Why? It seems obvious that they no longer have to work and can spend the time it takes to sit there for hours and notify authorities each time they see groups of illegals sneaking in. They deserve a big thank you from all of us.

Why aren't more young people involved in the issue? They tend to think emotionally rather than rationally. We've all been there. When they actually leave the nest and start becoming productive members of society, they start to see things more clearly. For some of us, that is in our 20s...for some it takes a bit longer.

Because they are the ones who remember how nice this country USED to be...
When neighbors could talk to each other without a translator. When graffitti was only in the "bad" parts of town.
When politicians put the will of the people ahead of special interest groups with hidden agendas.
Young folks are too apathetic and too distracted with their ipods to see the big picture.

Wisdom and life experience..........not so gullible to look at the TV for every bit of information but can look a situation for themselves and come to a conclusion on their own......maybe it has something to do with us having seen a bit more history occur in our lifetimes and have a bigger scope to pull from than those that a younger.

As I look around - I am not seeing that the younger are FOR illegal immigration I am seeing that they are more apathetic to it and just don't care as much.

Parts of Europe are going through the same thing.........this isn't just the US that has illegal immigration issues to deal with......

Could it possibly be that those of us who are younger and are pro border control actually have to work for a living whereas some of these people are retired or are self employed

I surely in no way heard of any of them beforehand of reading Physics in college (that have been given me interested in gaining expertise of greater on my own), apart from Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking. i got here across Brian Greene, Lawrence Krauss, and Neil Tyson from youtube vids, and observed many Michio Kaku youtube vids as nicely. Brian Greene reason he has a teach, Lawrence Krauss from a cosmology presentation hosted by ability of Richard Dawkins, and Neil Tyson from the Colbert document. i think of I first heard of Michio Kaku whilst i grew to become into discovering the Fukushima nuclear ability plant disaster. Richard Feynman grew to become into the only one (as nicely Sagan and Hawking) that I first heard approximately in college. there grew to become into one greater credit project to envision the e book "Feynman's lost Lecture" and write a document on it. Sagan and Hawking I heard approximately on account that center college. My wager is they are nicely everyday to us reason maximum human beings generic the Astronomy section, yet once you have been to ask this to the final public or a Chemistry or Biology talk board, you are able to desire to be shocked. nicely, possibly no longer Chemistry. As for Richard Dawkins, i understand him greater for his Atheism than for the actuality that he's a Biologist, yet various the reflects funded by ability of him are very scientific nonetheless, regardless of the actuality that they do **** on Theism.

Been around long enough to have parents fight in a war...fight ourselves or have others do so.....been through some aspect of the civil rights movement, sexism, racism, and about every social ill from rape to prostitution to child porn and drug use and abuse and all the rest. Lets see....many of us are products of failed educational experiments (the NEW math) and had children who went through the failed "writing to read" generation so we are a fairly good judge on when these special programs are doomed for failure and when they aren't ,like the lovely "bi-lingual education" in which neither group comes out any better off. Lets see.....went through bussing and pros and cons of day-care vs at home moms...single parenthood...blended families....blended racial families....bi-racial relationships.....gay relationships.....to name a few. We went from the manual typewriter, record albums, shorthand, transistor radios and a trip to the moon....to computers in our own home, CD's, DVD's, MP3 players and a space station. Again....to name just a few. Heck this is my 3rd round with hot-pants and mini-skirts and gauchos and whatever else is there that is supposidly "new" ....my 2nd time with a "global" issue and my 2nd time hearing a bunch of hypocritical whoop-la that doesn't wash.

We have seen things come and go and adapted to huge changes in a single life-time. I feel like I should set up a psychic shop because to me what's happening is a road well traveled and I don't need to bang my head against a brick wall again to prove it hurts and won't move. I've seen us go through countless trials and false solutions, temporary band-aids and lofty dreams, to see this is nothing but 100% pure disaster. Been there....done that. Even so far as to say that yes...we made changes but not all were for our best good once we lived with the consequences. Things we thought were good things, with the BEST intentions, that ended up a disaster we never thought would happen. Funny thing happened on the way from dream state to end result.....people didn't do what we thought they would. The chances....the freedom....were quickly turned to clubs.

You learn to read the road signs along the way and this one is a definate dead end. Not to mention once you get past what feels good and take the rose colored glasses off.......you have a more realistic view of what is going on.....and you stop thinking of just yourself and care more about the future of your children and grandchildren and great -grand- children and the world you want to leave behind.

To be honest....I really feel like I'm dealing with toddlers trying to keep them from sticking their finger in the fire and trying to save them the pain of finding out it burns. But some are sold to just HAVE to do it themselves.......just jot it in your diary that you were warned. You may get exactly what you're fighting for......just don't be surprised if it doesn't blow-up in your face and the wonderful candy-land of peace and harmony and singing tunes around the camp-fire doesn't happen and that what you have left to deal with is of your own creation. You may find yourself saying one day that those crazy old coots weren't so crazy after all.

I just already KNOW I'm not so firm on this because I'm stuck in my ways and afraid of change....I've already lived through massive change. It's not because I'm "racist" because already been there and done that inside and out. Not that I'm not opened-minded because I have adapted and tolerated and changed and dreamed and hoped and all the rest and still had to deal with reality eventually.

Not to mention one big thing.....I did take a chunk of my life off and did just sit back and not pay attention to what our government was doing and what was happening around me with our laws and while you were sleeping things that passed by with ease. Now I have time to check things out and do something about it and since I've gained the experience of raising children and having eyes in the back of my head to where there's been too many things going unchecked that now have my full and un-divided attention. Heard every line going and you aren't dealing with stupid people.

Because we "older people" are tired of paying for everything that is free to the people that cross the border illegally.
