my guess is that the giant source of energy might be ... (wait for it...)... THE SUN
Evolution doesn't contradict the Second Law in any event because as things become more complex due to evolution they also become more varied due to mutation and microevolution, thereby preserving the Second Law.
The trouble with creationists is that they read a child's text book, understand less than a quarter of it and then use it as the basis of an entire belief system.

A simple misunderstanding of thermodynamics. Thermodynamics suggests that energy will spread out, rather than remain localized. Evolution and natural selection argue the exact same point. The driving force behind evolution is over-population and migration, a spreading of the potential energy. Thermodynamics Second Law and Evolution go hand in hand. I really don't understand where the creationists could make such a claim, thermodynamics says nothing about simplification.

Haven't you heard of the sun? It is a giant source of energy for earth and the other planets. Creationists do not understand the 2nd law of thermodynamics or they wickedly misuse it and misapply it. You are misquoting it, and many scientists have refuted this naive argument hat shows ignorance of this law. I think Henry Morris started this silly stuff about misusing the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. It applies to closed systems, and our world is hardly that. Evolution has nothing to do with the genuine 2nd Law of Thermodynamics that Morris did not know or deliberately twisted. Read some science and stop making a fool of yourself with this nonsense. You say it is accepted "EVERYWHERE BY EVERYONE". Well, I suggest that you learn what it really says if you want everyone to know it. You show us here that not everyone does know it.

People always say the sun negates that rule because earth is not a closed system. But if you say, the universe IS the closed system. Things start to make less sense.

Any mention of the 2nd Law of Thermo as it relates to evolution basically tells me: this person is ignorant to science, evolution, and thinking.

I know. I honestly groan whenever I read something this mind-numbingly ignorant.
I usually tell them to take a look at that big, shiny yellow ball in the daytime sky. That's the sun. It gives us all the free energy we need. Making this an open system.
That usually shuts them up. Usually...
EDIT, thanks Schneb for providing us with a perfect example of christian ignorance. I could'nt make that up and be convincing if I wanted to be. We can always count on you buddy...

There is a nuclear furnace 93,000 miles away. Think the energy could possibly come from that.

Does the Sun count??
And biochemists and biologists who adhere blindly to the Darwinism theory, search for results that will be in agreement with their theories,... whether it be in the field of ecology, ethology, sociology, demography (dynamics of populations), genetics (so-called evolutionary genetics), or paleontology.... BECAUSE THE RESULTS ARE THERE, TOO!!!

Wow... whoever said this clearly spends too much time sitting in their basement reading creationist websites... because apparently they have never seen the light of day.

Sure, you're not saying that man is the only intelligent life force in the universe.
Don't you think that's sort of "Arrogant'?
