I always wonder what mental disorder they are suffering - obsession, paranoia, delusion, etc. Maybe it's indoctrination, but I think someone would have to have a pretty low IQ not to question that arcane thinking.

That's my thought on it. What's yours?

Alex, the only people who think like that are more nuts than we are!!! They are indoctrinated and brainwashed by their beliefs. They have no concept or understanding of the science behind mental illnesses, neither will they except any. They are the narrow minded, blinded to society sort.

I often wonder that myself. I used to self-harm and when one of my religious friends found out, he was convinced that I was possessed. It made me angry that he just wanted to believe that I was possessed instead of looking at what really might be causing me to do it. The sad thing is that this guy was pretty intelligent and worked with me in a mental health facility for kids. I don't understand how people can be so blind.

Some just use it as a figure of speach b/c of their under laying thoughts on the matter it is easy to blame evil and the devil for things for some people then it is to believe that one of there family members have a mental illness and that it is in their blood as well.... Even if they show no signs of mental illness.

Evil is real and people can be possesed some may just be severely metally ill and think they are possesed and some fake it as well but the true evil I have seen is evil that I had brought on myself by drugs or by dangerous craft and that has nothing to do with my bipolar and evil is not the cause of my bipolar my mom suffered a nervous break down when she were pg for me was any of that cause by the devil himself! No but others would say it was the devil in my father that drove my mother to her state of mind at the time... ummm...

People are strange.
They refuse to take responsibility for their mental health.

Mental health is something you need to watch every bit as much as physical health.

If you do not learn or use appropriate methods to exercise and keep your mind healthy it will just as easily turn on you.

The only evil comes form Mankind.

"God takes care of those who take care of themselves."

I used to believe that these people were just uneducated and that if they only knew the Truth about it all, they'd understand.

But that was over five years ago. The local mental health system had adopted a "recovery model" back then and they seemed *really* interested in proving that people with mental illnesses could recover from their issues, get better and get to working for a living again....

And there was a *LOT* going on, at least locally, in terms of *education efforts*, in terms of getting the word out, and trying to keep the stigma from being so bad.

But like I said, that was five years ago....and things have got worse since. The drop-in center I had helped get off the ground, that I had co-managed for 2 1/2 years, had been shut down. The system had been *bought out* by one of the local hospitals and made a "Catholic orgainzation" which brought no end of trouble....and then it got sold again, only this time, there was hardly any funding left to do *anything* with.

And in the meantime, the stigma, the outright bigotry the local people had in town locally at my end....it didn't get better, it got *worse*.

And they knew better. They had the information right there in front of them. So...

Any more these days, I have to assume, with a bit of a broken heart, that people just plain *choose this*. That they choose, *by design*, to be willfully stupid on this issue so they can still have a scapegoat to pick on. Really. I see no end of this on the mass transit buses, wherein anyone who "looks like a mope" gets verbally abused and insulted, openly and publicly, with *impunity*.

And the sad thing is....it's often people of color who do this. This scapegoating isn't just *for* white people anymore...often the person attacking is of color and the person *being* attacked is closer to being caucasian. I don't understand *that angle* to it either, unless it's just a bad case of "poor people picking on *poorer* people".

But the point is....people *choose* to believe that it's about a "character flaw" or about "Satan" or whatever. They choose, in the face of the Truth, to be stupid. They choose this so they can continue to bully and harrass the people *they want to* bully and harrass.

And it breaks my heart. Champaign, Illinois *used to be* so beautiful. It did. But now the people and their hatred have made it ugly.

So what can you do? These people had the information right in front of them and they *still chose* to hate. -_-

It makes me sad....it makes me weep for the future late at night some nights.

Thanks for your time.

Well, I know it doesn't have anything to do with "I.Q."...in the bible, many years ago, people with mental disorders, were said to have 'demons' in them..and they were truly cured, when Christ cast them out...in fact in one place in the Bible, it tells where Jesus came upon a man, who was 'possessed' and acting like what we today would know as an out of control schziphrenic...Christ cast out the demons..and they ran down the hill into pigs..to think that this has anything to do with intellegence, is wrong..You either believe, or you don't...but one good point, have you ever wondered, why people in severe cases of some mental illness's it almost always manifests itself in evil sexual, or murderous thought processes? think about it

I believe it's due to Satan; I suffer with Anixety/Depression and it's like when you get down and under you began to feel stress and worries. Satan is right there waiting until you get under. I began to see things; people may call me crazy, but I don't care. If you believe in God than you must believe in Satan because both of them are real. I hear voices also when I'm down and under, but I ask God to remove that stress and worry because I know he's the only one taking care of me; no one else. You have to be strong and have faith in Jesus to get you through. Jesus is right there as you fight your trials and tribulations; he will never leave you. My daily things that I do; I read my bible, talk to God, Pray, Mediate, Yoga, and walk to relief stress, but notice I ask God the most to relief stress because he has the most power over all of this. I suffered with depression for a very long time and trying to cope with it now. It takes time to cope with it, but you must have Jesus first in your life. Satan comes in my dreams to make me seem crazy or something, but I ignore him and laugh in his face. He always comes back with some crazy plot. I know Jesus is laughing also; with Jesus I have been stress free for 3 weeks. I go to church every Sunday when I can and me and Jesus has the best connection together. My faith has built up, I trust in Jesus, I don't worry, I get out more; by walking and socializing and on top of that I feel happy about myself. I don't care what people say to me or what they think about me. I'm careless; when I fall I get back up and move on. I ask Jessus for repentance and guide me to be stronger. When you have Jesus in your life; he has a vision for you and nothing or no one can destory that.
