Well, let's see.
The townfolk saw to strange "men" come to Lot's house.
They came to his door in the evening, wanting Lot to bring the strange men out, so that they could "know" them. They weren't talking about exchanging business cards, here...the intent was to rape the men.
Lot offers the men outside his door his two virgin daughters, for which he has gotten alot of static, and rightly so, but they get even with him for later, so don't worry too much about it, because evidently the men who were so intent on rape a moment before had absolutely no interest in the two virgins.

Inhospitality?
Yeah, you could call it that, I suppose.
Seems to me, the men wanted to have gay sex with the angels at Lot's house...
And God had had enough of them.
Perhaps this is one of many sins going on in these towns, perhaps it was one of the main ones...but it was very much in evidence.
And, yes...we get the word "sodomy", which means anal sex, from that story.

Genesis also offers guidance on morality. It contains the account about Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighboring cities, which God destroyed because of the gross sexual perversion of their inhabitants. (Genesis 18:20–19:29) Verse 7 of the Bible book of Jude says: “Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities about them, after they . . . had committed fornication excessively and gone out after flesh for unnatural use, are placed before us as a warning example.” The people of Sodom and Gomorrah did not receive any moral laws from God; however, like all humans, they had the God-given faculty of conscience. Hence, God could justly hold those people accountable for their deeds. Likewise today, God will hold all humans accountable for their deeds, whether they accept his Word, the Holy Bible, or not.

In the story, the townspeople are totally rude and cruel to the angel God sends. Lot takes the angel in and gives him refuge, but everyone else wants to kill the angel.

The towns were full of very hateful, nasty people. The townspeople were not noticibly gay, rather just the opposite.

You get the word sodomy because it means something that someone does to your body that is often not welcome, and it happens among all sexes and genders.

At least spell the names of the cities correctly...geez!

Sodom was not a "Gay City" as some like to profess. We know this because

1. Lot's 2 daugthers were engaged to be married to men in the city
2. The city was powerful and thriving with lots of people so OBVIOUSLY most were heterosexuals making children
3. The one incident of attempted gang rape does not suggest that the men were gay. Straight men rape other men all the time in prison and through out history it was done as a form of humiliation. The mob of men weren't "in love" with the two angels or sexually attracted to them (which would mean they were gay) they just wanted Lot to bring them out so they could gang bang the angels. That's RAPE, not homosexuality.
The fact is that the angels were two strangers and Lot was also a foreigner and a foreigner bringing two strangers into a walled city after dark was treated with suspicion. The men were obviously out to teach Lot and his guests a lesson in WHO OWNS THIS PLACE. So it was more about xenophobia than homosexuality. Ezekiel and Jesus referred to Sodom EXACTLY in this context- being inhospitable and hostile. In the book of Jude the men are accused of, 'going after strange flesh" and the Greek word for "strange" translates as alien, non-human, which is exactly what the angels were.
4. The fact that Lot even BOTHERED to offer his two DAUGHTERS to the men to rape instead, shows that he MUST know the men under normal circumstances preferred women.

More people should read the bible with more discernment and cross-referencing. But certain Christians still continue to MISUSE this scripture to refer to gay people.

All because in the 1200s St. Augustine started the false premise that the sin of Sodom was homosexual sex. It was THEN that the term "sodomy" was coined. Translations of the bible then started using it. And "sodomy" was used to refer to BOTH anal AND oral sex. Any kind of sex that the RC church forbade because it did not result in children.

Go research it and prove me wrong!

That's my mushroom cloud and I expect you to return it. Thou shalt have no strange mushroom clouds before me.

The 2 cities got destroyed for lack of hospitality, not sex.

They were destroyed because they were extremely wicked.
