Well, there are many types of businesses that can be operated from home without much personal customer contact, but if you want to be in business, you must have customers, and you must have some interaction with them.
Brian Tracy says, "The purpose of business is to acquire and maintain new customers."

If you have a passion for something you can easily turn it into an on-line business. The trick is doing it the right way. Most people think that all they need to do is create a website and the customers will start pouring in - they are dead wrong.
If you want to start a business I highly suggest using Site Build It. This is how I got started my own business (not one of those opportunity schemes). For a video demonstration on how it works visit the link in the source box.
They did a great job helping me start my business real cheap.

Trouble is, everyone else is doing the standard stuff so it's in your best interests to think of niche marketing it better.
Is there something you LOVE to do - because you're going to have to be very serious about doing this long enough to get money from it.
Is there something in your area that's of interest to people there that you can piggy back on as an enhancement to what's available locally? Like tourism, something special about the land, city, people.
Low cost or 'no' cost don't work unless there's a demand for what you have. Can you locate where your target market is AND get them to notice you enough to want to buy what you've got to sell?
Shipping costs money. Products and raw materials cost money. What do you have around you for free that you can utilize for this? Can you take a throwaway byproduct and turn it into something sellable? Like that priest did with duck poop turning it into a name brand fertilizer? Like church groups do with pine cones they collect that they roll in peanut butter and bird seed to sell as decorated sets to bird lovers? Like the guy who picks up acorns to sell to the DNR in his state for planting as trees?

Can you draw? Rubber stamp companies look for pictures they can make into stamps. They pay $4 a drawing. I did that for a side line for a while.
Can you do a skill? Can you teach? The question is so broad that it's hard to answer.
