Resurrection seems kind of hypocritical, don't you think? It's not much of a sacrifice to lose something you can get back after a few days. So the only thing which Jesus endured is the physical agony of crucifixion, which again isn't that impressive because it was also the fate of thousands of anti-Roman agitators.

I've been saying the exact same thing for years.

Jesus gives up -- what? -- ten, maybe twenty years at the most, living as a rabbi in a Bronze Age backwater; and in return, he gets to RULE, in PARADISE, forEVER!

Where's the nobility in that?

I have much more respect for the sacrifice of Judas -- he's responsible for the death of his friend and mentor, and condemns himself to eternal torment, in order to buy a second chance for humanity. Or even worse, Judas has to consider the possibility that his friend died for nothing -- unlike Jesus, who KNOWS with absolute certainty, from the instant of his birth, that if he just sticks to the plan he gets to rule forever, Judas has to take it on faith that what he's doing will ultimately be the right thing.

The a hundred and forty four,000 interior the e book of the revelation of Jesus Christ are MALE, ISRAELITES and VIRGINS. What a stupid assertion to assert those are the only ones that pass to heaven. you actual need to pass away the Watchtower Bible Tract Society, repent, and hit upon a bible believing 'born of God' Church. guy is tripartite being: physique .. soul and spirit whilst guy dies unsaved he is going to a liter hell .. the actual guy or woman (soul - recommendations, will and thoughts secure) is in hell ..... the physique is buried interior the grave (OT observe for grave is Queber - no longer hell) whilst a stored guy dies he is going to heaven ... 2 Cor. 5 is truly clean that "to be ABSENT from the physique is to be recent with the LORD. whilst the LORD returns the bodies (that sleep - bodies of believers) would be resurrected and glorified to end the soul that grew to become into in heaven to now be like Christ will a resurrected physique to greater healthful them to reign and rule on earth. Hell has the souls of the unsaved who would be judged on the super White throne judgement and solid into eternal separation from God .. examine Rev. 20:10 ... devil grew to become into solid in there the place the beast and fake prophet had already been for a million,000 years. You sound such as you have had JW coaching. i'd sidestep that like the plague. They administration how and what you think of. start up discovering the writings of Godly born of God Chistians that are actually not in touch in lots fake prohecy and alter of doctrine.

Quite the opposite. Had Jesus NOT resurrected, He would have been NO DIFFERENT than anyone else. The Resurrection was the PROOF that what He taught was God's Truth. His Sacrifice was in the actual death, not in staying dead.

Hey, those who invented all the Gods back then knew that they had to have supernatural abilities. Sad actually, that they had to copy almost in detail exactly what the other Gods were already known for doing. Horus, Mithra, Dionysis and about 18 more. They should have been a little more creative with their thinking.

"Wouldn't Jesus' death have been more meaningful if he never resurrected?"
No. What it did was show us that God keeps His promises. He promised he would rise from the dead, and he did. The same thing can be said about all of God's promises. The point to all of this is: God is trustworthy.
Also Jesus said this:
31 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.' "

So rising from the dead means so little to you? I guess you suppose it's done everyday.

Jesus' death was waaay more meaningful because he was brought back to life. So far he is the only person to do that. i find that meaningful. it means i serve a god who is omnipotent. Jesus' physical agony on the cross was impressive. i dont know how well acquanted you are with old Roman ways. they gave him more special treatment than just any other anti-Roman agitator. he was not just crucified. he was stripped naked, then whipped with a cat of nine tails. that is a whip with nine strands that are covered in bits of bone, glass, and jagged metal. within a dozen or so lashes his back was probably cut up and you could vividly see his bones. a few more lashes and internal organs could be seen. then he had to carry his own cross, a virtual tree, on his back up a hill. and what is wrong with his back? he doesnt have much of one anymore. so that means the cross is directly on top of his ripped up back and the splinters are cutting directly into his exposed flesh/organs. he was then nailed....nailed with spikes through nerve endings right below the hands and through both feet to the cross. in that position one cannot get enough air to breathe. so they have to lift themselves up by their arms which is excruciatingly painful because of the nerve endings to get a breath.

that kind of physical agony is not impressive to you?

And indeed, a bit less painful than the suffering of people who live for months and years with cancer before dying.

Christians will claim that you do not truly understand the significance of his dying. It is not just the sacrifice of suffering and death, but the idea that Jesus raided hell and defeated the devil while there for three days.

Evidence? Sola Scriptura.

Edit: BurntPuma (DEscended into the heavens? Isn't heaven up from here? LOL)

If he never lived again people would say "Ha Ha he claimed he was the son of God but he cant save himself and now he's dead Blah blah blah" , The whole point of Jesus coming to Earth was to give us salvation and by coming back to life he showed he was truly Gods Son and wanted us to believe

The Resurrection was the point of the whole thing. Christians have changed the message.

So...suffering and dying on a cross and then coming back from the dead is not "that impressive" according to you.

Hmm.

Of course you ignore the fact that before the crucifixion, GOD Himself lowered Himself to come to earth and experience what it is like to be US.....

Or that He was under absolutely NO obligation to do any of this....that He did it SOLELY because He loves us....

I mean, I'm sure God has better things to do than help us out after we essentially gave him the finger in the garden of Eden. We spit on Him and reject Him and deny Him....and He STILL goes out of His way to show us how amazing His love is....

The MOST amazing thing to me, however, is that He went to die on a cross BEING COMPLETELY INNOCENT....so that people like you who would stand around scoffing would have a way to get to heaven.

I can see that anyone selfish enough to spit on God would not see that as impressive.

I am not religious but I think that it is like anything else if it was done half ***es then it would have not been as cool of a trick!!!! I think people would have been like he was more of a figure head like Joan of ark or something. Resurrection give him a supernatural feel!!! like indefeasible!!! Kind of like Rockey!!!
