I am a disabled american veteran, and i am just glad i don't have to go back. The news you see is all Bull. We are not making any kind of difference. At least before the people weren't in a state of civil war, and they actually had running water and electricity. Now if they don't die from violence they die from disease becuase we aren't helping to improve their quality of life. And as far as weapons of mass destruction go, there wasn't a damn thing there! It was basically a war to settle Daddy's vendetta. It is pretty convienet too, that Rumsfeld said back during Desert storm that we should not invade Iraq becasue we didn't have the manpower to secure it, but then 180 when he was with this bush. Also, every joint cheif and advisor who said we don't have the manpower to hold it were immediately fired and replaced with people who said we could. I went twice. I was there in the beginning, and was home for 11 months then went back. As a medic, you see a lot of death, more than the average soldier. When i became a flight medic, i was shot down in a black hawk. When they tell me that i have done great things for my country, i cannot believe them. When i wake up every morning and cannot feel my feet, it is little consolation to know that Saddam is dead. I feel for my brothers and sisters in arms still over there, and i pray that they don't have to suffer the pain that 100,000 wounded Vets do every day, and the thousands of families who won't see their child, father, mother, brother, or sister again.

I was there in 2005. It's dirty, dusty, and it doesn't exactly smell *bad* (at least, not where I was - Tikrit), but it does have a very distinctive smell. The dust was what really got me - you can never get rid of it! No matter how many times you wash your uniform or gear, the stuff never seems to come out...
Honestly, I came away with the opinion that there's no real "winning" over there. The longer I was there, the more apparent it seemed to me that it's not "our" war; rather, it's more of a civil war that the Iraqi people need to sort out for themselves. Unfortunately, no matter how you cut it, there's no clean way to get out, and I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.
I'm not a fan of war or nuclear weapons, but I've lost three friends there so far, and I've reached the point that if I were the person in charge, I would seriously consider using them. Then again, if I were the person in charge, I wouldn't have gotten us involved over there to begin with, but that's neither here nor there...

this would purely be between the various comments till now something is finalized. as nicely, a troop withdrawal does no longer mean we are leaving Iraq completely. we are able to nonetheless be in touch in practise Iraqi troops and operations against Al Qaida. Even the Democrats approve of that. we are actually not likely everywhere for some destiny years, that i can assure you.

it started out small and bush couldn't just get out because then everyone would say, "why did he go in for a month?" and now were way too deep into it and he has his reason i guess, which i think is probably stupid; most think its oil but nobody knows.
i despise bush and think his decisions are ridiculous but i think the media takes everything way too far and it seems to me like every decision he makes gets contradicted by everybody.

Iraq is a distraction. Everyone is looking over there, while our country is being stolen from us over here. Everything is going according to the globalist plan.
