.........don' think of it as being slow, think of it as giving much thought to your answer!
I noticed virtually the same thing recently watching two young women "texting" on their cell phones, four thumbs were just flying in the air.......I felt old and stiff, it's quicker to me to just make the call and talk. The ladies told me what others have told you, it gets easier the more you do it.

I have this image of all the regulars with a special folder full of stock answers. But even THAT would take time to sort thru. I have NO idea.

You could have the word "answering" copied to your clipboard, then immediately paste it to the text window when you answer a question. Then you can go back and answer the question at your leisure, and still be at the top of the list.

I type 120 wpm and always have. I've won awards for my typing speed. Practice practice practice. And stop typing with two fingers, use your whole hand. Even if it takes longer at first, you'll get better eventually.
Edit: Wth? I get two thumbs down for THIS? What is wrong with you guys?

Yahoo answers is like a great typing class. The more you answer, the faster you learn to type.

A lesson in typing, way back in my high school days, is what put me at 50-58 wpm, anybody can learn if their body will let them (i.e. no painful arthritis, etc.).
