OK.. STAY CALM! I'm going to tell you my story
When I got ALL FOUR wisdom teeth taken out at the same time, I was SO nervous, I kept putting it off until my teeth were starting to grow OUT of my gums and I was in MAJOR PAIN.
I was so so so so so nervous about the procedure I WAS SHAKING. My dad, who has had major surgery in the past, said to me "All they do it stick you with a needle and you are OUT. You are sleeping, you feel NOTHING. "
That consoled me a bit.
I sat in the chair on the day of the procedure, nervous and shaking, my heart pounding out of my chest.
They put stoppers in your mouth to keep it open during the procedure. They also put a monitor on your finger to check your heart rate. Then they put a needle in, but don't inject you yet.
They put a thing over my mouth to help me breath cause I had a slight cold, but I'm not sure if they'll do that to you.
Then the nurse in the room told me "Have a good nap!" I was like "HUH?!?!" and she repeated hersel "Have a good....." but it was too late, I was out.
The next thing I know, my mouth is filled with cotton and I'm waking up to my mother stroking my hair, and my teeth are in a little baggie next to me.
I felt pretty okay, kinda woozy, I even tried to walk myself out of the office! haha but they forced me into a wheelchair and out to my parents' car.
Then I got nothing but percocet and frozen yogurt and my bed FOR A WEEK!! FANTASTIC!! Best week of my entire life!!!!!
There wasn't much pain, but I was definitely SORE AS HELL. Take those painkillers, they SAVE you. No point in dealing w/ the soreness/pain if you don't have to.
Just ask yourself... what are you really scared about? The pain? I thought that too. But they put you under local anesthesia so you are OUT. It happens pretty much immediately, I was shocked. And when you get out, you're feeling very happy :)
Let me know how it goes!

You really need to start psyching yourself out! Oral surgeons do this every day. The hardest part is the IV, and that is just a little poke, not a big deal. You just need to tell yourself that everything is going to be okay and just breathe. It is normal to experience some anxiety before surgery, but you make it so much worse for yourself if you make a huge deal out of it. I would be nervous if a general dentist was doing it :) My father is an oral surgeon and I work for a practice that has 6 oral surgeons in it....we do this all day, everyday. Please don't stress too badly about it. I experienced some anxiety before I got mine out, but I think that's because I knew exactly what they were going to do, what it looks like, etc. I really hope this helps. Good luck with everything, you will do just fine!

In order to sue for malpractice/negligence, you must prove irreparable harm. It sounds from your account that he tried to extract your upper wisdom tooth, but ended up pushing it further up into your sinus. You need to be directed to a more competent and experienced oral surgeon who will know how to grab that sucker and get it out. You will also need a good ears, nose and throat doc to follow you after this surgery as you will, no doubt, experience drainage and discomfort from having this insult to your sinus. Don't waste time and money going after the jerk who screwed up....you won't win. Spend your time and money getting fixed and getting better...you are worth it!

Oh my gosh, You are going to feel so much better after they're done. If you're having pain now, you will be so relieved after you're done! I'm assuming that they're knocking you out. I did that too and I woke up laughing at everything. And, I didn't even know they knocked me out till I woke up. I never even had enough pain to take any pain meds other than tylenol for the first day. There is nothing to worry about.

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled. You will be fine, its not that big of a deal.
Try listening to some jazz and lay in your bed with the lights off and some candels.

The first woman was right, call your doctor and explain how nervous you are. Most doctors will prescribe you valium or something like it to calm you down.

call your doctor and ask for a preprocedure sedative, something to relax you. Of course you will need someone to drive you there and pick you up.
