Hi, my name is Phil

Ok so every other day on the radio I hear...

"Four Canadian soldiers were wounded today when their 'X' hit an 'X'" or something along those lines...

Just wondering; is there a site where it lists the Insurgent casualties?

I know that it might be hard to get an estimate on these things, but there must be some way of knowing?

Thanks,

Phil

Yes, it is interesting, isn't it?

If you were writing a new article for the insurgents, probably the first thing you'd list were the coalition casualties killed and wounded in that order. Then you'd detail the damage to coalition equipment or bases, etc. Next you'd probably list the civilians killed enumerating the women and children killed and wounded (in that order). You'd probably talk about the damage to structures. But, if you were writing the article for the insurgents, you would absolutely leave your casualties out.

Coalition casualties and damage can be used to recruit more insurgents. "See how strong we are?"

Non-combatant casualties and damage can be used for propaganda. "See what we can do when you have the infidels trying to protect you? Wait until they leave... "

Lacking reports of their own casualties is also a recruiting ploy. "Allah is on our side. We cannot be killed."

In fact, in conventional firefights, the insurgents lose about 20 to 1. In battles, like Fallujah, they lose upwards of 50 to 1. That's why they hide in Mosques, schools, and hospitals. That's why they hide among crowds. That's why they don't like to engage us. That's why they use bombs.

They don't expect a military victory. They know they can't achieve that. All they want is to have one man standing. And when we eventually leave, he'll come out of the woodwork where he's been hiding in fear and say, "See, I've driven the infidels from my land. You doubt? I am here and they are not. Now... remember what we did to you when they were here trying to protect you? Well, they're not here any more..."

After Vietnam, the daily tally or body count fell out of disfavor. After the 1st Gulf War, the enemy killed was in the 10's of thousands. We didn't advertise. The same is going on now. We are killing these guys by the dozens every day, at times over a 100 a week, sometimes more. In Fallujah it is estimated that up to 1200 enemy were killed and unknown injured during that skirmish. These guys are dying like flies and nobody knows who they are or where they come from as they carry no id. Breaks my heart. (a single tear runs down my cheek.)

The Taliban usually recover their dead, and obviously they aren't saying how many people they are losing. So it's hard to say. However it can be assumed that when Taliban do come in contact with NATO forces and air support is called in, plenty of Taliban are killed. My guess is the kill ratio would be about 15 Taliban for every fallen NATO soldier.

An average of 1500 per month since the war began. March of 2003-present means that approximately 80 THOUSAND have been killed so far.

Not nearly enough. But that's 80 thousand less ******* to come over here and do it to us.
