Are you Christian because its been proven to you, or because you have faith?

These are indeed mutually exclusive, so please don't try to sit on the fence!

Also, Christians that are about to spew hate and insults, please take it elsewhere

I know someone's going to say that they know its true when God speaks to them... OK, so that means you're foundation is proof... ie You hear/feel God

Faith.

I do agree that they are mutually exclusive for with proof, believing becomes knowing. Faith has no place in the presence of proof.

HOWEVER, I do believe that faith provides it own evidence that allows those that don't understand the true nature of proof (absolute certainty) to say that they have "proof that God exists".

Thus, while I am a Christian because of my faith, that faith has allowed me to perceive evidence that supports my belief. Not proof, for that would eliminate my faith and I need it to understand the things I experience AND to accept that there is much I can't possibly understand.

Both.
It took faith to believe in the possibility...
After that, I had proof of the reality.

There is a living God who has touched the lives of millions over thousands of years. This is evident in their changed hearts and lives, and in all that exists around us.

It's like asking if you have proof of love, or faith in love.
They are not mutually exclusive as they both exist because of love. Love implies and requires relationship.

Jesus died to provide a covenant relationship between us and God. Through Him we can know, love and have a real and dynamic relationship with the living God. I've have been agnostic and a mystic for years. Of all the path I gone through in my spiritual journey, I have found that this exclusive claim is true. Jesus IS the way, truth, and life.

I feel like my faith opens my eyes to see the proof, and the proof I see deepens my faith. Which came first? I don't know. But at this point, the proof that I believe shows us there is a God would be foolishness to someone without faith.

Faith, and trust now in God for all things. Hasn't failed me yet, and most likely will not.
