we are moving up north to find better sources but some people say thats stupid too but i know whats right but do u?

You are by all means not stupid. Some of the most intellegant people in the world have some form of autism. Here's my thinking...a lot of people have no idea what autism is or any clue as to what it is to have it. They are the ones who are unintelligant. Autism affects more people than Diabetes does; Autism affects 1 in every 150 births; Autism is the leading developmental disability in the world; but yet hardly no one knows what Autism is. Maybe when we get to 2015 when the are estimating that Autism will be 1 in every 9-10 births, people will finally smarten up and educate themsleves on Autism. They always say childern hold the key to the future..then why aren't they helping these kids who have Autism? Perhaps if they educated themselves on Autism they would see you are not stupid but rather unique. Everyone in the world is unique in there own way regardless if they have a disability or not. Having Autism just makes both of you even that more unique. Both you and your brother need to ignore these fools and keep your heads held high. Don't ever listen to anyone that says your are stupid. Maybe you both can turn this into a positive thing by educating people in your school and community about Autism.

I am a youth football coach and I have a child on my team with not only Autism, but Asthma as well. I have to tell you, he is one of the hardest working people on the team. In fact, he had his best practice yesterday and was even chosen to lead the team in chants (something very special). Because he tries his best at what he does, people look past his Autism. Indeed, I am not even sure that most of his teammates even know he has it. Keep your head up - there is a major ad campaign out now about Autism and hopefully the ignorant will understand that you are not stupid.
***SPECIAL UPDATE!! David, the child I mentioned above, made the block on the play that caused our team to make a 60 yd WINNING touchdown. It was largely because of his efforts that we ended up winning the football game yesterday. I am so proud of him. Don't let ANYONE get in the way of your dreams!

I have never tried to treat any person any differently than anyone else because I know what it is like to be treated differently. l try to form opinions based on knowledge rather than ignorance. I am sorry that you are being treated like this! I guess it is hard for some people to know how to act when they haven't had enough experience with life so they know how to understand. Maybe someday this will become a reality. Keep the faith in the good people and the hope for the people that need it. Stay strong and God bless to you and your brother!

i have 1 14 yr. old son with autism. He says the same thing. You are not stupid at all. It is that you learn differently from others. People just do not understand that and they are quick to judge. It is unfortunate that kids are especially cruel to peopled who are different and it can make life a living hell for those who suffer from a developmental disability.

Autistic people can be mentally brilliant,
but kids base their judgement of people
on how they interact with others.
Even if you prefer to stay alone, consider smiling at people, and laughing at their jokes.
Maybe once each day you can purpose to look at a person your age when they are talking to you, and making even a 2 word response when they finish talking.

You're not stupid...I know how difficult it might be for you and your brother but if you guys can endure the emotional pain then "F" those ignorant fools...As long it's not physically distressing you then you'll be fine...
