Mother in law, Daughter in Law on. Dr. Phil seemed to be leaning toward the Daughter in Law as the bully. But I felt the mother in law was a drama queen, example, "She ripped the heart right out of my body", "ruined my life", and she seemed to be able to cry at the drop of a hat. I am with the daughter in law, she has a right to protect her marriage, her family, and her children by insisting the Mother in law get help. I felt this woman needed to let go. Some mothers try to hang onto their sons by any means.

A mother and son bond is hard to break, and I think no one has the right to do that. Ground rules is what needs to be in place and stuck to. If the women can not get along at all, then one day a week the son should take the children over, see him mom, let them visit with grandma and the wife has a day for her self.
When we get married it should be to make the family complete not destroy it. The daughter is mean and a bully, and I have to agree with you the mother plays it a bit too much. If we knew the right answer, we could make a cool living..lol
