My question is can i still carry a rifle with me or can i get into trouble if a ranger or fish in game stop us, since i am not going to have a license.

Game wardens will always assume the worst because more times than not, that is the case. There are a lot of stupid jerks out there who poach game and because they do, you cannot carry a gun during hunting season in the field without a license. Anyway, if you aren't hunting why do you need a gun? There's no sense in risking it. If you are considered to be poaching, you can lose everything you and your friend brought on your hunt, including guns, tent, truck and even your cooking gear. Take a knife and anything you guys will need for field dressing the game in your pack and let your buddy worry about hauling a gun and shooting at the game.

If you don't have a license it would be best that you don't carry a rifle with you. This just simply keeps you from any interrogation from the Game & Wildlife officers.
Also, I don't know your age but if you were born after 1/1967 you are required to have a hunters saftey card to get a license or to carry a rifle while on a hunting trip.

The Obvious...Two guys carrying rifles or Shotguns and only 1 with a Hunting license..What does logic and common sense tell you before you even posted this question in the first place ? Of course you're going to get jammed up and get in trouble. Its not about what you are doing as much as what it APPEARS you are doing that matters. No guns, knives or anything else on your person if you are going to accompany someone else "legally" hunting..Save yourself some MAJOR grief here, and do what you know you need to do.Simple..

You would be best off to leave the gun at home if you dont have a license. I would buy a license and join in the fun! What's the point of going hunting if you dont do it legally? It's a good way to cause yourself a lot of unneeded trouble if you get caught. Play by the rules and its all good.

check with the dnr, but in every state i've ever hunted in you need a license even if you are not carrying the gun. you see they cannot tell who shot what animal so how can they tell that your cousin, and not you, shot the weapon? not only that but you are a part of the hunt as your very presence effects the game (you might scare up a rabbit or whatever it is you're tracking).

If you are carrying a rifle, it will be assumed that you are hunting - therefore you will get into trouble. Go along with your cousin if you want, but don't take posession of any weapons unless you buy a license first.

Don't carry a rifle until you get your lisense. If you are carrying an "instrument of taking" bow, rifle etc., they consider you to be hunting. Go get your lisense BEFORE your trip, and enjoy yourself!

If you are holding a rifle in the woods, you are hunting.

You will be arrested, and you could lose your firearm and even your vehicle in some states (don't know about CA). Don't be foolish and don't risk it...get a license!
