Actually the "disciple whom Jesus loved" was John the Apostle, different from John the Baptist. He is believed to be the "disciple whiom Jesus loved" through a process of elimination harmonizing the Gospels. So here's the answers to a few of your questions about John the Apostle.
1. Who were his parents? John and James (not the author of James, but the apostle James) were called the "Sons of Zebedee." His mother appears to be named Salome when comparing Mk 15:40 with Mt. 27:56.

Since this is your project, I'll give you some resources or point you in the direction for some other answers:
2. Compare Mt. 27:56, Mk. 15:40 and Jn 19:25.

5. Explore the authorship of the Gospel of John, 1,2,3 John. Extra biblical; research Polycarp.

Before going on, does the project specify you're researching John the BAPTIST, or does it say Jesus' favorite disciple?

John the Baptist wasn't one of his disciples.

The one who could lay the best claim to that would be Peter, since Jesus chose him on whom to build his church, but even then, there are arguments against Peter as well.

I don't think Jesus played favorites. He loved all of his disciples and all of us for that matter, equally.

But to answer your questions re: John the Baptist:

1) and 2) His mother was Elizabeth, who was the cousin of Mary, Jesus' mom.

3) and 4) N/A

5) John baptized people before Christ came, and Christ himself

6) John was born to foretell of Jesus' arrival on earth. He was the last prophet.

7) Born 8 months or so before Jesus, died about a year before Jesus (so 0-32 AD, roughly)

8) and 9) and 10) He was beheaded because the daughter of King Herod was tricked into asking for his head on a platter by her mom, who didn't like John.

11) John lived in the woods with his followers

12) He didn't want anyone to distract him from his job (my opinion, not based on anything factual)

13) Search in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. They tell JB's story.

Would love to answer your question, but John the Baptizer was not Jesus' favorite disciple.
Jesus probably liked the guy, but I suspect you might be referring to favorite Apostle.
That would also be a guy named John ....but not the baptizer.
If you insist on talking about John the Baptist, his parents were Zechariah and Elizabeth. Luke 1:5.
Elizabeth was related to Mary, mother of Jesus. Luke 1:36
This particular John was not Jesus' favorite ....though they apparently were on fine terms.
What did John do? He baptized people ....basically preparing a core group for Jesus.
Why was John born? Zechariah and Elizabeth had sex.
He lived till about 30, 32 years of age.
He was beheaded. Matthew 14: 6 ..........
Herod had him killed.
John lived in the area called Judah.
However, as an adult, he spent alot of time in the wilderness.
Did I help you with your homework?

Tradition says John the disciple not the same as John the Baptist his head was cut off long before he could have wrote Revelations and John 1 and 2: but I beg to differ I believe it was Mary Magdalene but of course we'll never know until we ask Jesus face to face.

John the Baptist was no disciples nor apostles of Christ Jesus (I mean Jesus the Christ and not just Jesus Christ which is grammatically erroneous). According to recent manuscript discovered it could Judas Iscariot who is the foremost of the Anointed One's disciple.

John the Babtist, like other Biblical characters, were symbolic and not "real". It is unknown whom, this character really was.

The bible, being a Spiritual script was about teaching Spirituality. This was done by relating to your personality by bringing in another personality you could understand; in effect, it made it "real" for you.

What you have done is what opthers have done and continue to do, take the Bible Literal. In doing this you miss many good points and teachings.
