1. The best way, which also turns out to be the easiest way, to make hard-cooked eggs is to place the egg in cold water (enough water to cover the eggs with 1 inch of water).
2. Cover and bring the water to a full boil
3. Turn off the heat and let the eggs sit in the water for 15 minutes.
4. Drain the water. Soak in ice cold water for 1 minute. The soaking in cold water eliminates the green ring around the egg yolk. Note: Cold water soaking does not make the egg peel easier.

Other tips:
1. Take a push pin and make a little hole at the flat end of the egg. This will give you a nice oval egg since the air in the air sac is allowed to escape.
2. Right when it starts boiling, give the eggs a stir. Gently so not to crack them. This will center the egg yolks so you don't have egg yolks biased towards one end.
3. The reason you don't boil the full 15 minutes is that the egg whites are primarily protein and will easily overcook. This will make the egg whites rubbery. The eggs are still edible and most people are accustomed to rubbery egg whites and think that's the way eggs should be, based upon the recipes given so far.

Put the eggs in cold water. Bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and cover. After 10 minutes, run cold water over the eggs to cool and stop the cooking (the quick cool also makes them easier to peel)

Here's a really easy, foolproof way to get perfect eggs every time; start the eggs in cold water, just covering them. Bring to a boil, turn off the heat, cover, and let sit for 22 minutes. Then, take them out and run under cold water. That's it! You can't go wrong. They're always just right!

If you're making hard boiled eggs, place them in boiling water and boil for 13 minutes. Remove the eggs immediately from the pan and then run cold water over the eggs to stop the cooking.

This is just one method to ensure perfectly cooked hard boiled eggs.

Raw eggs could produce problems to your digestion system as well. It is definitely not recommended. That is almost like eating raw meat for protein. The shell will keep most of the nutrients in the eggs, so I would hard boil. Cooking does change the nutritional value of foods. That is why raw veggies are also recommended in a diet.

Put the cold eggs in a saucepan, then fill the pan with cold water.

Put it on high, uncovered, until it boils. (Let it get to a full boil.)

As soon as it starts to boil, put a lid on the pan, and take it off the heat.

Let it sit for 20 minutes.

You don't need to boil them to death, as many people think.

Getting to boiling point, then sitting in that hot water will do the trick, and they won't be rubbery.

(Rachel Ray of the food network does this; it works.)

Dave C hit the nail pretty much on the head. I always let them boil for 3 minutes, turn off the heat, cover the pot and let them sit for 10 minutes. But, that's just the way I like it. The yolks get done, but they're still moist. I like to devil them, adding some horseradish to spice them up.
